I grew up in a small town where if a funeral was on your road you pulled your car over as a sign of respect and let them go by. The other day I was driving down the highway and passing on the left, didn't realize until the very front of the line that I was passing a funeral procession. In town I always pulled over for funerals, but what about highway travel? And even in town, does anyone see this being done any more? People get mad and honk even if I pull over for an ambulance or fire truck any more, so I don't know what kind of reaction I'd get for pulling over for a funeral. Anyone know what the proper etiquette is here?

My boss has temper tantrums on a regular basis. She literally will scream at us and say VERY demeaning things. She is very controlling and criticizes everything we do.She is very impatient and yells at us all the time (except for her "pet). Her boss is in another state. One time I told her I was going to call her boss because I thought she was being unfair. She blew up and now is even more cold towards me. Can I tape record her horrific behavior to cover my butt if in the event she were to terminate me?

What's with the USA mentality that people need to drive the biggest car or SUV? Isn't this one of the reasons gas prices are so high? Will these people who drive HUMMER also drive a military TANK if it's legal on the street?

Yesterday I was dropping my girls off at daycare and I saw this elderly man laying on the ground next to the curb. There was a wheel chair next to him so I asked him if he needed help. He told me yeah so I helped him get into his chair and he was shaking really bad so I called the paramedics and waited with him until they came. The man was 76 years old no family to speak of and he had been laying their because he had fallen out his chair during a seizure (is that how you spell that?)
He had been there all night long this is a very busy street he was on and I stopped and helped him at 6:30 am. That means hundreds of people passed him by.
What the heck is wrong with human beings? I mean how would you feel if your grandfather was laying somewhere helpless for hours and hours?
How many of you would really and I mean be honest with yourself would really stop to help a person in need? Keep in mind I was on my way to work and ended up being 20 mintues late. How many would do that?

let say you won the lotto for 26 million and you wanted to give away some money because now you feel kind of guilty. And you see that eventhough you was spending money and wasting it you still got alot of money. I buy stuff that i don't even need or it goes out of style and they come with a new model. I am tired of it and then my greedy cousins want me to always sponsor them with some crazy idea. if you just really wanted to see someone really happy with some money what would you do?

I like to be true to myself, but sometimes I tend to accommodate the person I'm with, friend or stranger, by slightly changing my personality to make one feel more comfortable, or at ease.
I like to be myself, but for example, if I'm with business associates I have a 'business' personality, and if I'm with friends I'm myself (funny / a little weird / quirky), and when I'm with family, I'm just the same except a little bit more crazy. I tend to read the person I'm with, then change up a little to adapt to the person.

The closest thing I could find to explain myself is how Dave Chapelle explains it, except he relates it to pressure.

I relate to this clip on so many levels..
Is it just me, or do other people do this? I want to be myself ALL the time, but I'll probably loose my job, repel the opposite sex and be a social nut case.

Its a shame...because i have this funny feeling I'll be more successful professionally and socially if I was just me.

Give Me Your Do's And Dont's please ....

So I got this new job, and I like it, but I want to avoid being the new "employee" that gets off to a bad start. I tend to be aloof at first if I don't meet a co-worker that I can relate with immediately. I know I do this partly out of shyness, but I know I need to break this habit.

Any advice?

without being insulting. Also, some people have this persistent habit to 'yell' at their cellphones. Sometimes, the voice can be so loud and shrill that you can hear it at the other end of the hall.

You also have to think twice when you know who you're speaking to, e.g. if it's a 6'8" Black guy with an angry look, a redneck trashy bimbo - I mean the kind of people who are likely to charge back at you with something like "Wha-chew lookin' at?" You simply don't want to mess with their attention problems

But does that mean you have to tolerate their nuisance? Well mostly EVERYONE does

When you give someone a gift and they go "You shouldn't have" - isn't it true that they really aren't willing to receive it from you - that they are rejecting your gift? Even if they end up accepting it?

Sometimes I feel like having breakfast in my room instead of sitting down in a hotel restaurant/dining area when I travel only by myself. Is it okay if you go there and take the food to your room, suppose it is a breakfast buffet?
