for a bit of context: someone has done something devastating to my family, that legally we are unable to rectify. everyone keeps comforting me with "well, she'll get hers!" but somehow i don't believe it. i think sometimes people just get away with messed up stuff, and nothing happens to them.

The universe is amoral and doesn't care about us or our ethics which is why good things happen to bad people and bad things happen to good people.

Karma prevails ALWAYS...either now or later. Nothing said, thought or acted upon goes on without invoking it's influence and repercussion. The longer it takes for it to effect, the greater the repercussion. Very loosely, it's analogous to Newton's first law for every action that there is an equal and opposite reaction. Everytime you think, say or act, you throw the boomerang that is Karma!

I don't believe in karma, but I do believe in God. God knows people's hearts and intentions, and He is fully qualified to judge us and give us the rewards we deserve. He knows the full circumstances of everyone's life and what causes them to do things. I'm not so sure that a wish for revenge on that person will help you though; you'll feel freer if you forgive and move on with your life. I'm very sorry this bad thing happened to you.

I don't know if I believe it does or not. I mean, there are always people doing terrible things...and nothing ever seems to happen. And there are those poor guys, who no matter what good they do, can never seem to catch a break.

you're right, people do get away with things. if we were always immediately punished or rewarded for what we do, we would always do the right thing. i firmly believe that we all have to face our Maker someday and be judged according to what we've done. but that isn't always comforting. i know for myself that i am happier when i face my trials and work to overcome them. whether they exist because of my own doing or the actions of others. holding resentments has gotten me nowhere. i've learned to forgive and let go no matter how painful or wrong something was. i've decided not to let the actions of others effect my joy in life. yeah it's easier said than done, but i don't wanna go through life wondering whether the people who wronged me, or those i love, will get what they deserve or not.

Kharma always prevails, whatever you put out into the world you get back twice as much of the same. It even says so in the Bible, whatever you do unto others, so shall others do unto you. It may seem that others can get away with bad things but even if they are not payed back in this life, the bad kharma goes with them into the next life.

Just because you don't see or won't know what happens to them, doesn't mean they won't "get theirs". But they will. Everybody does. What goes around comes around and what goes up must come down. Simple. And a lot of times you'll get it double. Forgive, because with resentment and hatred that person has a hold of your heart and mind and soul.

The problem with karma is it is NOT instant gratification, whatever horrible thing happened will come back and bite, it may not happen this year or even 5 years but trust me it will happen. It just may not be soon enough for you!

Karma prevails... It might not be straight away, but it comes back to you twice as hard.. with good AND bad things.
