A.P.T warning letter?

Question

I have received waring letter from A.P.T office.

"I am walking very heavy in my apartment thru night. please try walking softner."

However, I cannot agree with that.
I live with my wife and one month baby.
We don't run in my apartment thru night. We live just two people walking. We are very carful everyday.
We donot close doors because noise. This apartment is old and made from wooden.
We cannot go to bathroom at night?
I think neighbor is very senstive. They might be not go bathroom.
I hear noise at night and early moring. someone use washer and dry at night and early moring everybody stamp at steps and close door very heavy but I stand it.
by letter, If I donot comply letter they charge $250 fine, legal action.
I promise I'm very caful in my apt. I donot walking and I never walking very heavy. My wife and I are not heavy, neither.
What I gonna do?
I have to compliant, too?
Or I must walking softer, how? I already walk softer.
How can I solve?

Hmm if you feel like you have done everything you can to be quiet, I would write a letter back, but be polite.

"Dear sir/madame,

I am responding to the letter I received on (put date and what it was titled etc). During my stay, I have done my upmost to be quiet and respectful of my neighbours in this apartment building. At nights, my wife and I make effort to walk quietly and respect the fact that many tenants are sleeping. I will continue to be respectful of this; however, I would like to bring to your attention that the floorboards (or whatever it is) are quite noisy, regardless of how lightly we walk. Perhaps this is something that should be reviewed.

Okay so i wrote that very quickly, but you get the basic idea.

Write a letter explaining that the apartment is very old and that you do walk softly. Mention that people living in apartments with people above them will have noise no matter how quiet or soft the upstairs neighbors are being, and if they do not like it they should move to the top floor.

Also, ask for proof. If they do not have proof, they have no case.

I've experienced apartment living and have dealt with upstairs neighbors walking and have not complained because it comes with the territory.

Also, buy a cheap rug from IKEA or a department store to muffle your walking. Problem solved.

first off your building cannot fine u unless stipulated in ur lease. 2nd get carpets installed or area rugs, it will suppress the sound and noise coming from y our walking. thirdly call ur management office, explain ur situation and I'm sure they will understand. I'm sure ur neighbors have a history of complaining and it will only reflect poorly on them for being so uptight. if u feel their being inconsiderate of you than call management and report it. that's what they are there for, to make sure u have quiet enjoyment. get area rugs and ur problem will be solved.
