I desperately need to crap at work but there are people all around. Shall I hold it and resist constipation or shall I just go for it and reveal what a repulsive human being I am to all my colleagues?

there's a lot of old proverbs surrounding this type of situation. The first that springs to mind is 'Don't sh!t on your own doorstep'. Your workmates don't want to smell your fecal matter lingering around the office.
However, some people may take the other view, 'better out than in'.
If you are going to be doing small hot f@rts anyway as a result of the turtle poking it's head out the door and your workmates could be subjected to this, then perhaps it's best just to bite the bullet and do the deed.
Brian I hope I have given you a balanced answer and you can find some solace in what I have said.

What a strange question.

Most people don't reveal themselves in this manner in front of their colleagues.

Isn't there a bathroom at your work? That's normally where people go to relieve themselves. And most people will understand that this is a place where we are all at our most vulnerable. That's why most bathrooms (at least here in the US) have stalls and doors.

Lacking facilities, you might find a tree, bush or rock to "go" behind. Just be sure to dig a hole and cover up your waste after wards.

omg. i am always in this situation. whats worse is we have 1 bathroom with 2 cubicles for the whole second floor. girls like to hang out and waste their time. its annoying and my boss had this guest bathroom installed in our office. sometimes i get to use it. i don't mind my officemates knowing that i took a crap coz they do it too. i just hate the girls who hang out in the bathroom. one time i had to go and i thought lunch break was over. i went into the biggest cubicle armed with a spray bottle of rubbing alcohol, some tp and some water. everytime i'd drop one i'd flush to minimize the smell spritzing the alcohol in between takes. halfway through the process a girl comes in, takes a whiz and starts brushing her teeth. as she spat out her toothpaste and rinsed i could see through the cracks that she was taking her time. she ended up toussling her hair around in several different styles just to wait for me to come out! what a total b*tch! so i mustered up the courage and walked out of that bathroom stall like i didn't care. i looked her straight in the eye as i walked out.

stupid b*tch! anyway, go for it. i mean just tell them casually. like ask a colleague to cover for you because you need to go on a bathroom break. why should it be repulsive? everyone needs to do it. if they make fun of you or criticize you for being "gross" which you are not. just tell them "i suppose you don't do it, you look pretty constipated to me, let it loose" and give them a pat on the back with your wiping/washing hand.

I hate it when that happens. I would just hold it if at all possible. If there is a restroom there that nobody uses, I might would try going in there. If not, I would just try to hold it off until I got home.
