Yes, it would definitely be bad to drink from the font in church. That's holy water meant for blessing oneself or others, not for consumption. But you already knew that.
The thing I find comical here is how many people seem to have read "in front of a church" rather than "the font in a church."

That depends on what you're drinking and how it's delivered. For example, taking shots of man-gravy is impolite unless you're dressed to attend services.
If I'd known you were going to be doing this I'd have put on my uniform & white shoes & come down there to give you a malt liquor enema.

i used to drive limousines part time and did quite a few weddings. the bridal parties would almost hold a tailgate party in front of the Church before the ceremony would begin.
but that doesn't answer your question, though.
