My boyfriend made me ask this one! LOL

2007-09-24 16:14:34 · 5 answers · asked by Bailey 6

I went on a 3 week vacation. I was friendly with my neighbors. I did tell them that I was going to be away for 3 weeks, as a courtesy and also possibly to have an eye on the property.

When I came back, the water and the electricity bills were more than three times the normal ! Would you suspect these neighbors or are there any other possiblities ? This is supposed to be a good neighborhood, $400,000 homes on either side.

What do you think ?

Yesterday we had lunch with some friends, their daughter and daughter's kids.

The 6 year old had spaghetti with no sauce. She pcked up each strand with her fingers, put one end in her mouth and sucked it in. Her grandmother told her several times that she shouldnt do that. Grandma showed her how to wind the spaghetti around her fork. The kid didnt pay any attention. Sucked it all down.

The 3 yr old was up and running all over. He hid under booths, crawled around other people's feet, ran thu the bar area and was crawling on the pool table in the game room.

The kids grandmother said sternly not to do this. Grandfather said to stop, or he'd be forced to go get the boy himself. But, neither of them did more than admonish them.

The kid's mother sat there. Paid very little attention to the kids behaviour.

I wanted to get up, get that little boy, set him down in his chair and tell him I would spank if he got up again, & mean it. I didnt tho.

What should I have done?

I have been at my current job for 3 months. I'm a recent college grad and this is my first real world job. I give it my all and I was so excited for this job at first... then it happened. The girl training me turned into a psycho beyotch. She tells me to ask questions, yet snips at me when I do. When I don't ask questions and make my own decisions, then she tells me I've done something wrong. She's an annoying overachiever who wants to run the whole dept. I'm nothing but nice to her, but every time I talk to her she makes me feel pathetic and stupid. I'm a smart girl. I graduated Magna *** Laude (3.9 GPA) and have always excelled in past jobs. She's bringing me down so bad I've started looking for other jobs. I cannot go to upper management because I'm in HR and the rest of the department worships her (I have no clue why). She treats me FAR different than the others in the department. I'm the first person she's ever "trained" so I think she's letting it go to her head.

A customer at work came up to the counter and was staring at me for a few moments, then really quietly, he starts saying, "beautiful.... you're beautiful." It was a little bit creepy but I thanked him for the compliment. Then he starts saying stuff like "what's your name" and "can I take you out on a date sometime" and when I told him my age he still was like "come on, I'm harmless, let me take you out." I can't say I didn't find him attractive--I did--but I know better than to go out with someone who is that forward, not to mention 15 years older, yikes! I don't want to be reckless, but I don't want to turn him away either... He gave me his number... what's your advice on this situation? I'm afraid to get myself in a bad situation that will be hard to get out of. I know that men who tell women they're beautiful are probably not good to get involved with. But I can't help looking at his number and wanting to call. What would you do if you were me?

I'm going to a hotel party tonight and its in the event of my friends 21st birthday. Now what will proper etiquette tell me to do? There will be alot of cool people, cute girls and the sort. i dont want to go up in there lookin like a douchebag with my gift all wrapped nicely with a ribbon on it. i bought her MASH Season 1 DVD Set. Should i just hand it to her like that or should i wrap it up? or put it in a bag? should i include the receipt?

(this is a good example of random *** questions on yahoo answers, thank you in advance =]

this one really tripped me out- a couple of weeks ago, i ran into a girl who was in one of my classes last year, and we began to chat. i was in a hurry somewhat, and told her that i was headed to the bus stop, but that i was going to stop in the union and pick up a coffee to go on the way- i asked her if she was going in the same direction, and if she'd like to come with me. her reply was no, and that she was already seeing someone.....

OK- i thought this was really strange, and i suspect she simply didn't want to be seen with me in that capacity (in fact, she probably didn't want to be seen with me at all). i've lived in europe the past 15 years or so, and to ask a woman to coffee means absolutely NOTHING. Is this seen as a more serious issue here in the u.s., was this girl totally uptight, or did she simply not want to be seen with me, but was afraid to say so? did i commit a faux paus? what do you guys think?

Not alot, just a little - like park my car at the end of his street and follow him for a while when he leaves. Or to wait outside his house so I can see what his wife looks like (what if she's fat?). What if I just do it a little instead of full time? No harm, right?

These guys at work always make smart comments about gay people in front of me, I have the sneaking suspicion they think I am gay.

How can I politely tell them I am not?

I met a guy whom I've been with for a short amount of time, but he told me he couldn't get serious since he was travelling around.
After two months and a little travelling and no news from me to him and vice-versa, he called me back and invite me to a party. At the party, he seemed very happy to see me and we've chat a little. I didn't stay long because had to go elsewhere, so when I told him I was leaving, he had this strange deception reaction.. As I cheek-kissed him goodbye, he just held my arm firmly and told me 'hope to see you soon'...

I would really like to see him.. but what do you think? Should I wait for him to call since he was the one slowing things down in the first place?

My boyfriend and I are going to the local fair this year with another couple we're friends with and we have a bit of a dilemma....

Me and my bf are HUGE ride fanatics when it comes to the fair! However, the friends we'll be going with this year aren't very much for rides and would rather look at the exhibits and eat the whole time. Don't get me wrong! My bf and I like looking at the exhibits too.... just not the whole time, you know? I'm just worried that maybe our interests will clash. Also, we won't be able to go on a weekend because we all have very conflicting schedules when it comes to work.

At first I thought perhaps we could look at the exhibits and then ride the rides, but that wouldn't work because the other couple doesn't like to ride the rides!

Any suggestions?

My parents invite themselves over, or ask in a way that you can't flat out say no, to my house. Recently: my brother (in his MIDDLE 20's) is moving, about 5 miles away from where he is now, and my parents are coming 6 hours to move him. Which this is the second time in 2 years, I've also moved in this timeframe, a lot farther away, but still close enough not to rent a truck, and they NEVER lifted a finger to help me move. When they come, they just plan on staying at my house. I found out about this the other day, they've already made arrangements with him to come and on which day etc, but didn't ask me to stay here. They always stay at my house, never ask, just tell me a few days before. Also, when they come, they not only stay at my house, and act like they are better parents to my kids, and get them off their schedules, they invite my my brother and family, to MY house, for me to cook for all of them.

How do I stop this?

Oh, and they have a key, they stole it.

The person who faultfinds me usually thinks I'm an idiot, mentally ill or otherwise a person who needs to be treated in a special manner just because i might do something very harmful or dangerous. It reminds me of my overprotective mother.

Why is it that when I ask a question for which I'm looking for advice from experienced professionals on this board - and I clearly mention that I'm only looking for that type of advice AND I post it in the appropriate board - then I still get opinionated responses from people that have some preconceived notions about the topic?

My neighbor just died and the during the wake, I overheard someone ask the grieving wife if he can purchase one of their cars (now that they only need one).

The guy was trying to talk prices and really holding up the receiving line...

Sickening! What would you have done? Anyone have any similiar stories?
