Their cousins tell them they are "white-washed" and call them things like "white girls" (in Spanish). Then they go to school and are told "to go back to their own country" and some mothers do not want my daughters playing with their children for fear they might learn bad things from them. Besides teaching them to love themselves and ignore the comments of prejudiced people (we are already doing that),How can I teach my daughters how to deal with the cultural differences and prejudices both at school and within our own extended family members?

I just found out about 20 minutes ago that one of my friends passed away in a car accident. She really didn't deserve that, especially since she lost her life and the driver walked away with a scratch. Why does God allow such things to happen to good, God fearing people? If he loves us so much, and wants what's best for us, why would he sit back and allow these things to happen to good people? It seems like the people who do bad all their lives seem to be rewarded and the ones who try their best to live good, God fearing lives always end up getting screwed. Why did he have to take her? Couldn't he have just allowed her to live, the same way he allowed the driver to just walk away? He's so all knowing and almighty, why couldn't he have stopped this? She was in the prime of her life & now nothing..

I used to sit next to this guy and then he was moved for awhile. And now he's baaackkk! Right next to me no less and I don't have a choice in the seating arrangement. He is clueless about reading signals from people such as when I answer in monosyllables or my voice or body language clearly says I don't want to talk to him! I have no interest in being his friend or anything else. He is clingy and obnoxious. He will listen in on every conversation I try to have with another coworker and then butts in, tells unfunny jokes and asks me questions that have nothing to do with work while I am trying to do my job. I think he may possibly have a crush on me but I am 7 years older and have no interest in him whatsoever. How do I give the clueless a clue I don't want to talk to him!?

My boyfriend's 30th birthday is coming up. I would like to throw him a surprise party, but unfortunely I don't have the time or money to do so. He's got a lot of friends and co-workers.

So, I'd rather just do something intimate with his immediate family (parents, grandparents, siblings and nieces/nephews) That's about 11 people.

Currently, we do not live together. Where I live now is just not accomdating to that many people (plus, I have 2 roommates-i would not want to displace them for a few hours)

I was thinking about organizing dinner for everyone. I would love to pay, but I don't know if I could afford that.

Is it rude to ask everyone to pay for their own meals? Or should I just save up and buy everyone dinner?

What can I do? Ideas for accomdating a small get together for 11 people?

I'm going to be giving my notice at the end of this week and want some ideas for the best way to do it. I have a hard time with confrontation especially because I feel like I will be letting my manager down. Should a written notice give an explanation? Or just the basics of when I will be leaving. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks.

just started work in a company. In my first day, i knocked on someone's door (his office facing my cubicle) and introduced myself. We had a little friendly chat. The next day I met this person in the corridor but he completely ignored me. Should i just ignore him next time????

He turned out to be the Director.

I'm 20, in college, and I dont drink or party, never have really. Is there something wrong with me? It just doesn't appeal to me. I guess I'm really nerdy because I'm focused on school and trying to go to law school.

Am I going to regret not drinking or partying in the future?

Yes, I was raised to have manners, plz, T.U. Sorry. All that. Now, I am getting upset at the people who DON'T have manners. Please be honest in answering this.

Should I stop being polite, because they say if you do use manners you are wasting your time and rude people don't know what they mean because mom and dad never taught them. Why should I waste my breath and time?

My co-worker who I work very closely with just lost her husband in a tragic accident. I don't plan on attending the funeral because personally I feel that the ceremony is a time for close friends and family of the departed to pay their last respects. Don't get me wrong I do plan on attending any gathering after the funeral, out of moral support of the widow (my co-worker). I mean no disrespect, but I feel that is a very private moment that should only be with close friends and family. Am I being too sensetive about this situation or do I have a valid point?

My friend asked me to be her bridesmaid and buy her dress 2 weeks before my wedding last Oct. even when her wedding was over a year away. Which I thought was a little rude but I said yes anyway, but off buy the dress till I was back and could afford the dress. In Dec, she asks me to buy the dress, but by then my money was tight, (as in living pay check to pay check, owning a new house & just getting married will do that to you) I tell her that I think it is best that I back out as a bridesmaids due to the fact that I can not live up to my bridesmaid duties.(others backed out too) She seemed to understand. Her wedding is/was in July so I gave her enough time. We keep talking and nothing seems different. Well I was never invited to the wedding. I think that was kind of rude to ask me to be her bridesmaid but when I can’t she didn't invite me at her wedding?

(Now keep in mind this whole time she keeps saying she is not sure she wants to marry this guys at all)

It was for a 5 year and the hat size was a children's 5-6 years so it was intended for children.

The phrase was "If it moves ride it" with no illustrations.

Did I just take it in the wrong way or should this really not be on a children cap?

Are Canadians confused about tipping? While most Canadians are happy to tip the standard 15 per cent at a restaurant, it seems they are far less gracious when it comes to tipping staff in other service jobs, according to a new survey.
