I just purchased my 1st home a brand new condo and planning a house warming/open house. I have pretty much purchased everything (major appliances, TVs, etc.)but still need some things and out of funds now. I would prefer if someone wanted to buy me something that they give me a gift card instead of a gift. I don't like registry because often times people do not follow it any way. Is there a way to word this on the invitations? When people ask me I've been just telling them a gift card is appreciated but I really feel ackward. What do you think?

I dont work in a shop at the moment, but i have in the past.

When people come to the till to pay for their goods and they count the money out and just put it on the counter instead of in your hand - I find this so annoying and rude, especially when the shop assistant is stood their with their hand out waiting for the money!!

Why do people do this? Have they got some problem with putting money into other peoples hands?

When they used to do it to me i would make sure that any change would be in small coins and i would just dump it on the counter like they did to me!!!

Over IM my male friend posted this:

"Have fun at school.
Be a good girl. Play with others,
Share your toys and take a good long nap."

I was offended and he said it was a joke and that I was being over sensitive.

In reply I stated:
"I do not appreciate being talked to like a child. Even in jest."

He agian said I was being over sensitive, that I had a good life and should try to enjoy it.

Was I truly in the wrong and being over sensitive? This is not the first time he has joked like this, but it is the first time I have said what I thought about it.

Even his family noticed at one time and mentioned how he treated me like a child.
I may be two years younger than him, but at 24 and 22 that kind of behaviour is no longer 'cute' to me.
Am I truly being over-sensitive about this?

Why is it that when women are standing in a quee for the bus or waiting to pay for something at the supermarket they wait until the get to the front of the quee before searching through their handbag for their purse????

I dont mean to be discriminate against women, and I know men do it as well, but it seems to be more women than men that do it!!

Why not look for your purse whilst queeing and get your money ready??

I just had to run up to my brother's school, its a new building a prek-12 now, and they have this visitors parking lot, and only one spot in the visitors parking lot. I know there isn't that many visitors there at a 10 til 11. I believe the teachers are parking there. Even though the teachers have a parking lot.

But why at other places also, do they take up the visitors/customers parking places?

I was in a museum the other day just standing there reading something or other when this woman came along and just stood right in from of me blocking my view. I didnt say anything to her directly but simply moved in front of her, blocking her view completely and shouted out - 'Some people are so rude, they come along and just stand in front of you with no thought for anyone else'

I think she got what i was saying cause she just walked away and didnt say anything to me!!!

As I was walking in to work this morning I was stopped and yelled at by a complete stranger! I had flicked my smoke butt in to the street, and she felt the need to tell me to pick up my garbage, continued to scream "what the hell is wrong with you, pick it up!" This crazy woman would not let me enter my work she held the door until I started yelling back at her. My question is even if you think what I did was wrong, would you ever stop a person to yell at them for it?

My parents and I are going to my Best Friend's Dad's retirement dinner this weekend, and we're coming from out of town. What, if anything should we give to them? Is it appropriate for family friends to give gifts, or just family? Help!

I am an animal lover and animal rights activist - not extreme, but I still do what I can to protect them. Anyhow, this person that I work with continues to come to work wearing REAL FUR!! I made it clear the last time she was wearing it that it is disgusting and then made it even clearer to the others I work with how cruel and inhumane it is. Yet she still continues to wear it?! Do I have any right here asking her not to wear it, or ask HR to tell her that it is offensive to me? If someone was wearing a dirty, sexually suggestive tshirt it would be the same situation - offensive to someone and I bet they'd have to go home and change, so why would this be any different? Can anyone help or tell me what I can do? Thanks.

I don't understand how someone can kill another person or animal and not feel any guilt. I seen a video on PETA with a woman stepping on a little kitten in stilleto heels ( I'm sure alot of you seen this) and the same woman stepping on a puppy as well. I don't understand how someone could shoot or stab someone either. I remember a bird breeder telling me about a woman who came to buy a new bird because her son stabbed their macaw with a steak knife purposely because it kept screaming and laughing about it. HOW CAN PEOPLE DO SUCH CRUEL THINGS?? IT MAKES ME SICK!

I have been on this forum not even 3 minutes and I already see 5 questions about African Americans! What is this big mystery about them that caucasians can't just leave us alone? This is EVERY day, all day obsessions. WHY WHY WHY??? We eat, we sleep, we work, we play, we breathe the same air, we have the same bills, we wear the same clothes, we use indoor plumbing, our bodies function the same, we read, we write, we think. Only the skin tone is different. WE ARE HUMAN BEINGS TOO!!!! There has got to be another focus for the caucasian race besides us!

My (son) kindergartner was invited to a classmates birthday party. - A little girl. The party is at her house. I don't know this girl or her parents. The entire class is invited. We received the invitation VERY last minute (5 days before the party). My son doesn't seem very excited about the party - I guess because it's a girl's party and not one of the "guys". I'm also assuming that this will be a drop off pick up party since the children are all five and six years old. I'm uncomfotable leaving my son at someone's house that I don't know. But on the other hand, if I can stay (I'll find out when I RSVP), should I make my son go because he was invited. I'd hate for him to be the only boy at a little girls party even though all the boys were invited. And I'd feel horrible for the girl if over half the class (the boys) don't go to her party.....
What would you do?

I do, just to make it's fresh and clean. And, if I smell an odor, I sue as hell don't want it to be me, so I make sure I'm clean.

I had a buffet-style dinner party the other day and when I tossed the salad lettuce and my white creme dressing went flying all over the buns and spotted dick. It was an embarrassing moment to say the least. Some even went all over my dinner guests. So I would like to know, when is a good time to toss salad. I had just taken mine out of the fridge, maybe the lettuce was too cold? Please, some help me sort out my predicament!

Last week, a friend of mine that I hadn't seen for a very long time had plans with me. However, she had to cancel at the last minute because she was sick.

I knew that my best guy friend (and quasi-boyfriend), who I typically spend Friday nights with, was still free for the night. So I called him up and asked if he wanted to do something. He agreed at the time, and his mom was a bit rude to me when about how she had to "carpool so late" because of me. He didn't say anything though.

Last night, I tried to make plans with him again, but all of a sudden I hear his mom screaming in the background "I'M NOT CARPOOLING TONIGHT JUST BECAUSE SHE DOESN'T HAVE ANYTHING TO DO!" Then he hung up.

I asked him about what the hell had happened today, and after sidestepping around it, the reason his mom--and he--were upset was because I'd used him as a "last resort" the week before.

Is there something wrong with making new plans if other plans fall through?
