My friend says that everyone knows that the answer is "no". If so, why?

Some do but most won't. Blue jeans are, or were, synonymous with the working class & youth. Most of which are more liberal. The Counter Culter of the 1960s & 70s wore blue jeans. Yet, ranchers, farmers and cowboy types wear them and they as a whole are mostly conservative. I think they are wolves in sheeps clothing as it were. Another bastion of liberalsim co-opted by the conservatives to suit their purposes. Next thing you know ... Chenney will be wearing "Love Beads" and growing a pony tail!!

I would hope so seeing how that's pretty much all I wear. Keep in mind that we are allowed to wear what we want regardless of political affiliation- over half of Kansas is Republican and 99% of us wear jeans.

The Republicans I know only wear jeans when they're trying to "dress down" to go visit the "common folk". And you can tell they're very uncomfortable in them.

Only democrats are allowed to, that is how we think. Republicans are to snooty to wear jeans. They are suit and slacks people, as in for the wealth of the people, as in for the rich to get richer...
