Do you have a middle ? if not you can invent one..RitaTarder,then you could say for example Rita Ann tarder,or Rita adding a middle completely changes the way the name sounds..Its the RitaTarter togeather that makes it sound funny....But if you add a middle name it sounds different and no one will laugh..Just give yourself a nick name a lot of people do that....Stars do it all the time.On legal documents you don,t have to but to your friends and just others it will make a big difference....

Assuming that this is a legitimate question, from someone who actually has that name. They are probably making fun of you because your name resembles the word "retard." All of their poking fun is just a sign of their lack of compassion for their fellow man, and blatant immaturity. I wouldn't think anything about it, or let it get to me. People like that are put in their place at some point in their lives.
