Most people are not that cruel. A lot of what happens when someone kills, rapes, etc is due to something that happened to them when they were younger and it did something to them mentally, like the guy that was killing and eating those young boys. (Jeffery Dommer) We find it hard to understand how someone could do something like that because we are normal, in a sense. Sometimes the madness comes later in life. A family member being killed or rapped or even something that unless you have been there you would never understand it, like having to kill to stay alive, like being in a war. (Iraq) My 24 year old son was over there and had to shoot a number of Iraq solders, killing them. He is not the same person he was before he went to Iraq. He's not crazy, but you can tell by his mannerisms that it did do something to him mentally even though it was an enemy that would have surely killed him, so we can't always say that killing is wrong if it means our own preservation. Cruelty is entirely different. These people that do things like the lady you said was stepping on the kitten or puppy definitely has some very moral issues. It won't do any good to worry about them though, if we as humane humans don't put a stop to it and then again, would it do any good to call the Humane Society and have them arrested for cruelty to animals? They would be fined and turned loose to just do it again. So you see, there are so many aspects of what and when killing is right or wrong that where does one begin to try to stop it?

I would say serious mental health issues. Whats even sicker is the movies made today like the Saw Seris or Texa's Chainsaw massacer. I don't get why people watch that crap. It's the same thing as stepping on a puppy or kitten. What is even creeper is even my Grandparents are cruel. They caught a racoon in a trap then let the poor guy starve to death. I wanted to call the police on them but the police I know weren't do anything. So the mental health thing is what I'm thinking of.

I didn't think there was any one else out there that shared the same sentiments as myself. For one I am vegetarian and that is mainly because I feel really awful and guilty to eat something that lived, breathed and felt pain and even emotion. The problem with most people is that they don't appreciate life and don't know how to nurture and love it. Everything, plant and animal have a life and do feel pain, it's strange that people think they're superior to the rest of nature and so can do as they please. If humans respected all life forms, there would be more peace and more love, children would live by the good examples set by their elders.
However this is the age of degradation, people don't care about what they do when they're trying to make money. As humans we are supposed to have the intelligence and the ability to love and nurture, however we have proven our race to be one of barbarism and animal like savage behavior. I hope someday people will realize how to treat life with respect and love and know what it means to be humane coz that's all it takes to make the world a better place.

Well, like thousands of other sane people here in the world, we, as humans have been asking ourselves this question for hundreds and hundreds of years. Why do people killother people, much less animals? There are three types of people who are recognized in the psychological mind. First, there are the sane, you, most likely, perhaps your neighbor, the kind who says they might punch you in the mouth for telling them to Shut up, but then when it came down to actually helping somebody else, they would. Second, there are the stupid and generally idiotic, who, would hurt or injure another creature of earth just for kicks, just to see what would happen. They eventually see what they have done and begin to realize it was wrong. Unfortunately, many people who do things like this are never caught. But, I can promise you this they are always seen by the One. And lastly, there are the completely insane. These people have no regard for anybody else or anything else on earth. They don't care about you or I or what happens to the next person or animal. They are psychologically speaking, "criminally insane."
These people either have one of two mindsets. One, they know what they're doing and just don't care or they have no clue what is going on in their mind, they can't control it, it's a disease. Which, believe it or not is often the case.
About how you spoke to this other person on the net, well unfortunately perhaps you should have just held your tongue even though I completely agree with you. It bothers people moreso if you just stay silent about it and give your most philosophical opinion rather than blow up, which sometimes is exactly what they want you to do. That way, it makes them look like you are at fault, not them. Believe me, God knows those who have wronged others, as well as his own, animals. Karma takes care of everything. It's God's personal way of seeing that justice is taken care of when society's justice does nothing.
Best of luck to you.

Well you are only looking at it from one perspective. For instance someone breaks into you house and is threatening your family or your child and you had a gun. Would you use it? Of course you would if you saw that as your only option of saving your family. I think what you are referring to is cruelity. You ask how someone could do such a thing. However no matter how ugly it seem there are some very ugly people in the world. We the sane will never understand them. Tis sad, but true

Personally, I think people who are capable of murder have psychological problems. It's impossible for me to think that someone who could approach a person or an animal with the sheer intent of killing for no reason doesn't have some type of problem.
With that being said, I do think there is sometimes justification for "killing" - self defense, or as in hunting for food, just as two examples. Of course, in the event of self-defense, I think personally I would continue to have guilt at having taken another person's life. But in hunting, I feel no guilt at eating animal products as long as I know that as much of the animal was used for consumption as possible.
In response to your addition about what was said in the chat room, I think you should have distanced yourself and remembered that it was a children's chat room. You were out of line in your comments (although the poster was also most definitely out of line in posting this content in a children's room). Moderators are there to block these people from the line so they cannot continue to post things like this.

You need to learn to spot a troll dear. They can spot sensitive people a mile away and are here just to needle them. Like bullies in a schoolyard.
People can kill without guilt only because they have been desensitized, or were born without any feling or comprehension of other people's pain, a sociopath.
Or they feel no guilt because the person or animal deserved it in their minds:)
Funny you don't mention any people here, only animals.

Because some people have psychological issues that make it impossible for them to have any feelings whatsoever. It's said that when someone says words like, "rape, murder, killing" and stuff like that, little receptors in your brain go off. But for people who kill and don't care, they feel the same way about the word "picnic" as they do about the words "rape and torture".

Some people are just like that. It makes me sick as well. But there is a difference between killing for fun and killing for food. We need the latter. Killing for fun is just a useless cruelty.
