I know I probably sound like Michael Scott from "The Office," but this is a serious question. Slurs will be reported, so don't bother.

I don't know what the right term is for a person of Indian descent. Is Hindi correct, or is that a religious term? And does is the term gender specific, or not?

If you're from India, then just tell me how you identify yourself.

I have a freind of the family that has had major removal surgeries for cancer that has spread to the lymph nodes. I live far away so I picked up a get well card but the more I think about I am wondering if I should send a card to get well when they may not make it. They haven't been told there is no chance but it doesn't look good. What is an appropriate way to let them know I am thinking about them?

My fiancee and I went to a gorgeous NYC restaurant. When we got our bill at the end of the night there was a line to add the server's gratuity along with a line to add gratuity for the "capitan". Who is this "capitan" and how much would have been an appropriate tip?

I was part of a team of contractors working at this large company. One of our team had left about half a year before to take a job at a different company.

Anyhow this guy who left was back in town and we decided to go out to dinner. The people going were me (contractor), my team lead (contractor), the guy who left (former contractor), and our project boss (regular employee).

All of us knew each other on a very friendly basis. My question is this. Near the end of the dinner, My team lead stated that he would pay but ONLY for the project boss and the guy who had left leaving me to pay for myself.

I know there are other things that maybe come into play like contractors having "per diems" and so but I was silently fuming and thought it was embarrassing even. I just thought it was wrong to say you would pay for everyone at a table except for one person regardless.

Your opinions?

There is a small full-service gas station close to my house. I stop there periodically to get gas and never tip the guy. I have never tipped the guy who pumps my gas before and usually feel bad about it. Should I be tipping him and if so, how much? I know 10% - 15% is typical for restaurants - does the same apply to this situation?

So far, this is what I have come up with: "Honey, if I was interested in fat rolls, I would rub my own."

Is this good or is there a better way to say it?

I've moved house, and am recieving mail for several different people - none of whom I've got a forwarding address for. I was under the impression I could just write "Not Known At This Address" on the envelope, and stick it back in the post box, is this true? If not, what can I do?
