what action can i take for a neighbor that lets his dog bark all day long starting at 6 am?

they are so rude as to let them bark as late as 11 pm. so far this morning they have been barking for a full hour. im at my wits end.....advice pls?

First and foremost, as a good neighbor, you need to let your neighbor know of the problem. Yes, there are those unaware folks who just don't know how their animals are behaving and how they affect their neighbors. You can call Animal Control if you wish, but most agencies of that nature will have no power over an animal which is not loose.

If you are concerned about a backlash from this confrontation, write up a nice note, explaining in polite terms what the problem is and place it in their mailbox in the middle of the night, or mail it anonymously.
"Dear Neighbor, perhaps you are unaware of a problem but I must take a moment to point out that your Dog is barking late into the night and very early in the morning. This is a problem which MUST be addressed. If nothing can be done, some of us in the neighborhood are considering official intervention."

If you choose to talk to them in person, simply explain your problem and ask them for a solution. If they are willing to work with you, then you have a path on which to work. If they won't, then you have no choice but to call some sort of authorities. A barking dog can be considered 'disturbing the peace' of any neighborhood.

1) Go over, explain the situation, and ask them to please do something about it.

2) Go to your landlord or Homeowners Association (if you have either) and lodge your complaint. Perhaps this is where you also offer to start taking the dog for a walk after work to get out some of its energy. I know it isn't your responsibilty but a little attention for the poor animal is probably all it needs... and a little extra exercise never hurt anyone!

3) If it continues, go back to the neighbor and explain that if this doens't stop, you will have to call the police.

4) Follow through and call the police if it continues.

5) Keep calling the police. Eventually the animal safety people will get called in. There is no reason for a dog to be outside barking for twenty hours a day.

I hate when people do that! Why own a dog if you don't pay attention to it? Happy dogs don't bark all day long...

If all else fails, I say leave a nice big bowl of anitfreeze out for the poor thing.

Well the easiest way is to go over to your neighbours' house and tell them what you are unhappy about. After all, the less uproar it causes the better.

Things would turn ugly if you went to lodge a complaint against them. Try to talk in a lighter tone,firm but polite. This will decrease the chances of them refusing your request. If they still refuse to listen,do not lose your cool yet. I'm sure you are not the only one who feels angry.

Talk to your other neighbours who are also affected by the noise, and arrange for them to visit the house of your neighbour together. Your neighbour might be frightened into making his dog shut up with so many people coming over to complain.

dont go next door and tel them. I have done that and it has backfired. they think I am the worst person for telling them about their barking dog.
Just call the cops or animal control, and let them try to figure out which neighbor called..
Its better than they knowing which neighbor is tired of hearing their doggy bark

Have you asked them? If they are butt heads just find out their number and call them and bark in the phone. You can also find a ultrasonic dog repeller that you can put in your yard anytime the ***** gets near. I hate barking dogs and I am going through the same thing. I have done everything short of playing a barking dog on my sytem on loop. "WINDOWS OPEN" LOL

Maybe the poor thing hates being tied up all day. Call animal protection. I know the barking bothers you, but it's really not the poor dogs' fault.

You can call animal control to go talk to them, you can remain anonymous. Also find out what the noise statutes are for your area so you can use that if it gets too bad.
