I think they are rude all the time, but being able to hide behind the computer, the best of their worst qualities comes out unbridled.

I take it very seriously when someone ask a question, unless it is obvious that someone on here is just trying to get a reaction out of people. But even then I just skip over the question. Because when someone ask a offensive question and there are no responses well you took the air out of their balloon. But when someone answers your question and being rude and sarcastic they have issues and just ignore that person. It shows how mature they are. I hope this helped a little

Good points Maproute, I think a lot of the flippant and pointless answers such as "I don't know" or "who cares" and the dumb questions like "Should I throw ten cans of oven cleaner on a bonfire?" are made by people who are either points gaming or are using Y.A. as a way to entertain themselves by deliberately being rude to others.
I have only been here a short time, and though it does seem to me (this is just my personal opinion) that many questions receive a few pointless or spam answers, they usually also get the original question answered in full by other users who are willing to take the time to help.

Your question reflects why: "No one takes any of this seriously?" I've asked some serious questions and received some much appreciated answers from actual professionals. Very greatful for them giving their time and expertise. Points not their goal. This may be virtual but there are real people behind the screens. Playing in appropriate catergories is ok & fun. There are plenty of other sites expressly designed for folks to play games and treat everything like their own personal foot ball.

Some people feel that they can be RUDE because we can't see them. Some are just rude!
It goes way beyond that..........If you have ever had a community violation wait until you read their form letters. They are non-response, responses!
These same rude people also turn you in for being rude..........example of favorite is "Not a question or an answer"
I'm with you some of them just act like they know all of the answers and you bother them, by answering or asking questions!
Good Luck Bella! in your pursuit of kindness!

I try to answer the questions seriously. I too am annoyed that so many people use this site for their childish entertainment. They purposefully try to be rude, demeaning and insulting. I believe it is the anonymous aspect of the Internet. I'm pretty sure they wouldn't say the same thing if you were standing right in front of them.

It depends on the subject matter. Help with homework or a problem in math is usually taken seriously. Social matters you get the gambit; sarcasm, rude, crude comments. People that don't have to face you with their remarks tend to be bold as brass, and that is the way we treat each other in the Internet world, isn't it?

Agree. I take it seriously but get tired of the ones that spoil it for the rest of us. I don't think that enough answers are rejected by Yahoo. All we can do, is stick together and reject questions and answers which breach the rules.

lots of people take this seriously. i know i do.
if you get answers that suck, then give em the thumbs down and then the answer minimizes and you don't have to see it anymore. out of sight, out of mind.
also, i have found that sometimes i can avoid the cruddy answers by how i word my question. instead of saying "i do this with my baby...", i say "do you do this with your baby" or "did this happen when your baby was..."
these versions can take the spotlight off you and what you do (which will always be wrong in someone's eyes) and focuses it on the situation and what other people might do. then, you read the answers and decide if it's what you were looking for.
i hope this helps and don't worry, some people suck, but not everyone...

well it ie easy for people to hide here behind their avatars and all the good stuff here . But when I read a question and want to answer it , I do take it serious ,because you do not know the emotional situation the person is in and do not want to hurt anybodys feeling . I do not like it when people answer with some blunt namecallings ,because some do feel offended by others . That is not so nice .
