Etiquette - December 2006

One in particular I work with has so many irritating habits, the list would go on forever, but the main ones are:

(1) Always repeating other people and trying to make their statements his own (eg someone says "the weather has cleared up". He says "the clouds have gone haven't they?" without any real reply)
(2) Annoying girly laugh and talk for a grown man
(3) Is a long-term temp who doesn't want his own log-in (uses the last employee's log-in which is against company policy), therefore pesters everyone with simple things he could do himself, including looking up department numbers
(4) Dresses like he's at home rather than at work (same dowdy old-looking brown sweater with blue shirts everyday)
(5) Scratches his greasy head constantly over the keyboard as if he's got nits
(6) Looks at cricket results on the internet 95% of the day!

It's all pretty darn distracting when his desk his right in front of me and can't look away. Anybody else out there with v. annoying coworkers?

Is it acceptable and understood that guests have sex? It just feels weird "doing it" in someone else's house.

I am in my mid twenties and have been invited to a co-workers holiday party starting at 7pm this Sat. I will be bringing my b/f who they are all familiar with.

My question is how long should I stay and Should I bring something and if I do, what? It is open bar. Also my boss will be there.

Hint: You can buy it, dine with it, and use it every day. It comes in various forms and is colorful. Very popular at parties.

My bf and I broke up in March and are not on speaking terms. His parents have always liked me a lot and recently helped me out with a sticky situation (my ex wouldn't return an item of mine, and they sent the item back). Considering the circumstances, should I send them a card?

Years ago and even when I was a kid (in the 80's) we all had so much more respect for people, we were afraid of our parents and authority. I think its alot to do with the "sue em" culture, kids should be taught from a young age whats right and wrong. My parents were great, I wish now that I had appreciated it at the time!

that apples make them burp? Not apple sauce or apple flavoured things or baked apples, just off the tree, fresh, raw apples, or is it just me? A lot of you have probably never thought about it before, but now is the time to start!

The people do actually do these activities are looking for disturbing harmony and we react in exactly the same way. Should we be so sensitive towards these issues ?

I have kids of my own. My son once had his bike stolen + its upsetting.
I dont want to be blamed for stealing it.
I dont want to throw it out into the street either.

How come at a strip club the waitresses always ask if I want to buy the dancer a drink just as our lapdance is about to begin? How rude is that?! I don't even know the lady yet! I'm about to get pleased and some waitress has to hound me for a $15 drink!!! Why?!?!?!

At an annual holiday party there is a guy who will greet all of the ladies with his lips puckered and he will kiss you on the lips. I am so fast that when I turn my head he gets my hair or ear. This is very uncomfortable and seems too intimate. Maybe I should send a man over to lick his wife's face clean. Would he get the message?

It's after midnight
And everyone's in their room
And I'm just waiting for the lights to go out
But in the mean time
I'm ringin' ringin' your phone
I'm sayin' baby be patient
I have almost escaped to see you
When they fall asleep
I'm gonna be free
Hope nobody wants to stay up too late
Cause I'm
Sneakin out to play tonight
Gonna take a taxi ride
Have fun with you
It feels so good I can't wait
Feels like a minute when I'm with you then
The whole thing has to end
Hurry up get back in bed
Before daybreak
I can't stay inside
I know I saw you last night
But it's already been too long
I need to feel your body
The touch of your body
But that's not all
No that's not all
When I'm around you time gets lost
When they fall asleep
I'm gonna be free
Hope nobody wants to stay up too late
Cause I'm
Sneakin out to play tonight
Gonna take a taxi ride
Have fun with you
It feels so good I can't wait
Feels like a minute when I'm with you then

I am not being funny here. I read that there are millions of adults that cannot read, or write, or spell with accuracy, and I'm talking about reading little children's books. How do these adults get by through high school or college if they cannot do the basics? Doesn't anyone cheat them, and how can they be successful in life?
