Very interesting question that probably relates to at least one person on everybody's gift list....
My hunch is that if this person is very depressed (anger turned inwards) they might not be receptive to anything either too subtle or something that you are really sure will turn their luck and their mood around... so, I guess I'm saying, don't get your hopes up...
When I have been down and out in my life (or plummeted by hormones, etc.) I have always been most touched by people's taking an interest in me... the "stuff" was pretty much incidental, and I am ashamed to say that I gave away a lot of well-meaning scented soaps and other gifts. If someone sincerely talked to me about what they saw as my strengths and what they valued in me, that was a real lift. I felt loved. But it had to be sincere.
I also liked it that my grandmother would slip a $20 in my coat pocket that I would find later... she never had any conditions on her love or the money she gave to me. I try to be that sort of adult person now, years later, with those I love.
I do believe that the perfect gift for this person is just a prayer away... God will let you know!
Hope this has been useful.
God bless you for your kind heart!

Luck is an issue of risk parties, and risk parties are predictably disbursed in a common distribution that balances fortuitous and unfortuitous risk parties. We all have unhealthy good fortune and well good fortune. However, now not the entire parties that arise to us in lifestyles are concerns of good fortune. In your case, you could have had studying issues or were located in a failing college as an issue of unhealthy good fortune, however you didn't installed additional paintings to triumph over your studying issues, which isn't an issue of good fortune. I feel your Nana might inspire you to use your satisfactory efforts to practical targets as a substitute than getting gloomy or depressed over your setbacks. Cheers, Bruce

Have you seen those Chinese 'fortune beckoning' cats? They're gold and sometimes have a little waving paw. A lot of businesses use them to beckon in money, prosperity, and success, but they can also be symbolic of welcoming and drawing in good luck, joy, and abundance. They're cute (some are less tacky-looking than others!), and inexpensive.

An encouraging card is most appreciated. Keep in touch with this person, let them know you care, and be available to listen when needed.
A journal is a good gift, and fresh flowers are always appreciated...they don't have to be from a florist, just from the heart.

I gave my lonely grandmother a big crystal to hang in the window. It makes little rainbows all over the walls when the sun shines in. She LOVES it! You can get the best crystals at Swarovski, or there are cheaper ones around too.

Go to a book store and find the books by Deepak Chopra. They're inspirational and encouraging to read. It's worth the investment for your friend.
