Why do people waiting for the elevator stand right in front of the door, as if expecting an empty elevator? And then act surprised that people want to exit before they barge in???

... acting so rude, being so complacent & behaving like the world revolves around our individual selves? We think of ourselves as giving, caring, open minded, tolerant, etc. yet I'm running into self centred, self absorbed, & self serving Canadians day in, day out! What's up with that??????
1. Is it because technology is forcing us to change behaviours?
Eg: Loud Cell phones ringing in Libraries, then the owners
answering, & talking very loudly, as if no one else is
around, yet they're blind to the fact that they're in a
library & they're bothering people!

2. Is it due to our population growth, where we become insolated/
isolated & have less social skills?

3. Is it due to being a wealthy country & like usual humans adapt
& become too comfortable with our surroundings?

What is your opinion & do you have any solutions to our growing problem of "ENTITLEDMENT" ATTITUDES?

I work with a girl who is around my age (20's), we are the only two people in the building in their 20's.
I don't like her company very much, but I keep it polite and friendly at work. She keeps asking me to hang out with her outside of work, and I have to come up with excuses everytime to avoid it.
My boyfriend thinks I should hang out with her once atleast to be nice.
What do you think?

I have a co worker that makes the most disgusting eating noises and she listens in on conversations and butts in on everything - we have tried being subtle and dropping hints but nothing gets thru - she cries at the drop of hat and we don't want to hurt her feelings but she is sooooooo disgusting - "Disgusted in Tennessee"

I have a candle lit at my desk that smells like baked cookies. This afternoon one of my co-workers started a coughing spell (very dramatic by the way) and shut the door that is between her work area and mine. This is door is usually open because it is a door that everyone in the office walks thru. My gut is to continue lighting my candle day after day until she has the nerve to come to me with the problem. Any thoughts?

A really attractive young woman sitting by herself talking on her cell phone. Everyone in the restaurant hears her conversation because she's really loud. She gets a call from her boss about a really urgent matter. She calls a co-worker at the office to help her find lost paperwork. It takes a really long time, but she tells them to keep looking. In a little while her boss calls her back, & she assures her boss that everything is under control.
What would you have done during her loud conversations?
a. politely ask her to stop, or step out
b. talk to the manager
c. just talk about her, & make fun of her
d. do nothing

Does anyone agree with me that a gift card for my birthday is the worst birthday gift to get from your boyfriend? Especially from a guy that wants to move in with you? He doesn't think so - but it's ruined our relationship.

This guy wants to take me to lunch...but he's the type that makes uncomfortable conversation (talks about other co-workers) and invades your personal space (talks really close to your face, hand on shoulder, etc.) Bottom line, I just want nothing to do with him...but can you say no when they ask you to go to lunch? How can you appropriately handle this situation? Advice!
