DO THIS: Go up to the children, smile, and ask them to play even harder. You will astound them, and they will stop. It's worked for me.

Been there! I pay good money to be able to enjoy a meal at a restaurant and there are times when that may be the only time I have to spend with my husband for awhile so I have no qualms with saying something to the parent. You can't blame the kids as they're only doing what they've been allowed to do. If the parent isn't willing to do something about their kids, then talk with the manager. If the manager isn't willing to step in, walk out and go elsewhere. Obviously the welfare and safety of the numerous other diners aren't a priority for the manager if they're willing to allow that kind of behavior in their establishment.

Talk to the manager about intervening. He has more right than you to go up to the dad and say "excuse me sir but we've had some complaints about the behavior of your children." He'll either be so embarassed that he'll leave, or he'll just pipe down and get the kids to as well. If the manager refuses to intervene, then leave or ask for your food "to-go."

D- do nothing, but hope the manager steps forward and asks the father to have them settle down.
I have a coworker who was outraged, when her 2 grandsons, aged 7 and 9 were escorted out of the gift shop at a Cracker Barrel Restaurant. They were there unattended- the rest of their group was finishing brunch, and they were running thru the aisles. The cashier took each boy by an elbow, marched them back to their table, and told them not to come back to the gift shop without an adult. I think she deserves a medal, but their grandmother was highly insulted.

remember this moment and use it as an example on how not to raise your kids... then walk over to the dad and tell him to start parenting right now! the problem with A&B&C are that he'll yell at the kids from them. And the true problem isn't just at the restaurant, its how he's raising the kids at home that they learn this behavior is ok.

I've complained to the manager when that happened to us. My husband and I were trying to celebrate our anniversary at a fine restaurant. I don't even know why these idiots brought their unruly kids there in the first place.
The manager asked them to leave or control their kids. They couldn't control them so they left.

do nothing and try to enjoy my meal
a* kids aren't gonna listen
b* dad ain't gonna listen
c* manager wants to keep all his guest happy so the only real thing he can do is move you away from the children and that is just inconvienancing me, not correcting the situation
d* why bother making a fuss? Life is to short.
Its only an hour at the most out of my day to deal with it.

i would talk to the manager.....chances are that asking the kids to be quiet will accomplish nothing (if they had any respect they wouldn't behave like that in the first place)....and asking the dad to do something probably woudln't accomplish anything either (if he was going to do anything, he'd have done it by now)....and i certainly wouldn't do nothing and try and enjoy my meal (no chance of enjoying it with that going on!)

Talk to the manager. It's up to him/her to keep the patrons of the restaurant happy. Needless to say, with these brats around and their disinterested father yakking of the phone, you're not the only unhappy customer.

I would go over to the table and ask the kids to be quiet in a nice way. Of course their overly self-absorbed father will get mad at you, but at least you will draw attention to the issue and make it clear that you deserve to eat in peace.

INTERESTING scenario! Glad I haven't been in one like that! lol. Lets see... I'd probably ask for another seat and tell the manager so then their whole team (waiters, chefs and all) can team up and kick them out since they don't know how to act in public and call the authorities to arrest them. Have a good day! :-)
