No language can be truly banned, at least not in the U.S. We have freedom of speech. If you mean, why is it ok for someone to call you that, but not for you to use the "n" word or whatever, the answer is that it's NOT ok. There are racist people in all cultures and ethnicities. If you use racial slurs you are a racist. Period.

Because you don't have a cracker or a Kraut making a living off from it like Jessie Jackson does.
If you make good money when the pot is stirred up, it's in your best interests to keep the pot stirred up, isn't it?

Me too. But I'm proud of it! I yam what I yam.
Unfortunately society has made some names worse than others, and I suppose not everyone is naturally proud of thier history.
Reminds me of banning the indian names from being mascots - ridiculous - it was meant to be an honor that I called myself a Warrior in high school

Because banning language/vocabulary is idiocy. In fact, I would much prefer the bigots in the world have a convenient means by which to announce themselves. The better to marginalize them and avoid them.

It would appear that the negative names for native Americans, blacks, latinos, and Jews are more offensive for reasons not quite fully understood. It may have to do with their past struggles. I am honest when I don't understand why Mic is okay, but **** is not.
