One in particular I work with has so many irritating habits, the list would go on forever, but the main ones are:

(1) Always repeating other people and trying to make their statements his own (eg someone says "the weather has cleared up". He says "the clouds have gone haven't they?" without any real reply)
(2) Annoying girly laugh and talk for a grown man
(3) Is a long-term temp who doesn't want his own log-in (uses the last employee's log-in which is against company policy), therefore pesters everyone with simple things he could do himself, including looking up department numbers
(4) Dresses like he's at home rather than at work (same dowdy old-looking brown sweater with blue shirts everyday)
(5) Scratches his greasy head constantly over the keyboard as if he's got nits
(6) Looks at cricket results on the internet 95% of the day!

It's all pretty darn distracting when his desk his right in front of me and can't look away. Anybody else out there with v. annoying coworkers?

EVERY DAY!!! But I have to say, yours is HILARIOUS and a great candidate for the following:
- Youtube
- Candid Camera
- What not to Wear (TLC show)
You have a few choices and only you can decide what is right and will bring you good karma and what is downright wrong:
1) take him out to lunch and have a heart to heart with him. After all, someone has to tell him his faults otherwise he will continue being this way and never progress.
2) Pick on him incessantly hoping he gets the clue
3) On secretaries day give him a bottle of shampoo and a gift card to the mens warehouse
4) get human resources involved to fire his *** for violating company policy, possibly inducing blindness, and wasting company time.
Or Just laugh him off and remember you are more important and better than him. There will ALWAYS Be someone lurking ready to annoy the goodness out of you, it's how you cope that matters.

I actually left my job because the people I work with were so annying! I had one that used to stroke me, it was so so foul! He's this greasy smelly little bloke and he'd stroke my head or my tummy or cheek or something. Another guy would follow me around laughing at everything, if I said, "god, it's tipping down" he'd start giggling and repeating it after me, and I'm really not that funny. Another guy got promoted and so as soon as I came in he'd go, "Right, today, if it's ok, you'll go on the tills." I did that every day, I don't know why he had to point it out. And I once said how crap this job is and how there's no career opportunities and he went "look at me, I'm a supervisor, you could be like me one day!" So I left two weeks later.

well, mine is a weird situation......i only work 4 days a week cause there is this other girl that only wants to work one day a week (which sucks for me cause i want full time).....i am only a temp here cause i can't go full time because of her.....but what really annoys me is the fact that when she is here that one day a week she goes through every single thing i have done for the other 4 days to make sure i have done everything perfectly......she questions every single thing i do.....well, actually she questions everything everyone does, not just my office but at the other offices....she has even called bosses to double check that what they told me to do is actually what they wanted.....she questions everyone and i hate it!!!!! i have been on my job for a year and a half and i think i know what i am doing by now and if i didn't then i think they should get rid of me!!!! This might not sound like a big deal, but think about everything you do in a four day period and then think about someone looking through every bit of it to make sure you did it right!!!! IT IS OBNOXIOUS AND IRRITATING!!!!!!!!!

I think every office has them. I used to work with a woman who washed her armpits at her desk. Mind you, this was at a fortune 500 company, with an open floorplan, so the entire office witnessed this cleansing little event.

Then you have the guys who belch, fart and scratch their balls. People who have to talk out loud about whatever they're doing is pretty annoying too. It's like you have to listen to a running narrative of their entire job functions. I'm also very annoyed at people who constantly need to be the center of attention. They're usually very loud and never seem to get much work done.

I havn't had the experience yet of annoying co workers yet. But I have heard about others that work at other jobs where my Mom works. She described how one woman never addresses her envolopes right and plays salitare all the time on the computer.

One coworkers comes behind my desk and stares at the screen. Reading what I'm looking at or typing.
The other asks me questions all day long for things I have no control over.
Have you ever had one who eats their lunch in seclusion and when you bring yours they are all over it. Sometimes taking a bite or sip without permission?

I work with a girl who has been here 5 minutes while I have been here 5 years and she still corrects me and butts in on conversations and checks that I am doing stuff right, also she's 15 years younger than me and you'd think she was the only one here who has experienced any life!!AAAGGHHH"!!!!

while nature has not weeded out this creature as being unnecessary, we are not allowed to shoot them. you are not in a good position here. when we are forced, (in your case by proximity and the need to make a living), to engage in distasteful relationships we often multiply our distress by examining them under a microscope. we list and mull over all of their traits and repeat them to ourselves and others in search of relief. in order to understand how to relieve yourself of the stress in this situation you must undergo a change of mindset. look not at the actions but search for the motivations of behaviour. is the same dress everyday a sign of poverty, lack of tast in clothing, a satanistic political statement? is he scratching his head because of parasites, confusion, or does he think it makes him look like he's thinking? study this creature and learn from it. my guess is that it is primitive and harmless, (unless it's secretly building atomic warheads in the basement), and seeking desperately human contact of any sort. also do not be afraid to ask for some elbow room from time to time. a quick, (emotionless), 'thanks but i'm busy right now and require some solitary thinking space to achieve my goals", sometimes works. in extreme cases i myself have simply told people that lack of communication would suit our working relationship best, although not in those words. just remember, if yer gonna be obsessed, be obsessed with everything!

yep.

One who talks to himself - "have you been a good member of society today, Name? Yes of course you have, Name"

Thinks he's an expert on everything and is the only one who expects someone else to do his filing.

Oh and wears a tie that plays X-mas tunes
