I've never gotten drunk (still too young), so this question might seem foolish, but: Why do people put lamp shades on their head when they're drunk?

Winter formal? Prom? I'm very curious, being a sophmore in highschool, and i hope folks out there can inform me about the way of the formal highschool dance. Who buys the tickets? Does the dress have to match the suit? Can you go alone? When do you ask? Can you help me?

My best friend Rodney is mentally retarded and we always hang out together. Sometimes whenever he walks down the street, people bump into him for no reason. I try defending him but it's not working. What should I tell him if people gets into him?

When I speak I use proper English and it almost never fails that I am looked at strangely by both blacks and whites. Blacks interpret it as talking white and being snotty and whites interpret it as strange. How am I supposed to talk? I never knew that there was anything such as talking black or talking white. Is it offensive?

Why do some people on here insist on swearing in their answers?
I was told that people who swear have a limited vocabulary and cannot express themselves properly.
What do you think?

And I can bet there will be some idiot that will give an answer full of expletives!

For some reason, there's been a huge influx of Jehovah's Witnesses into my neighborhood, and they come knocking on my door sometimes up to several times a week.

Now when I see them coming, even if they've already seen me through the window, I just don't come to the door. They're incredibly persistent, no matter how firmly I insist that I am not interested (and I'm usually busy with my toddler).

If I just ignore them, will they keep coming back or give up?

Are people always "dumping" on you, telling you their problems, but forgetting to ask how you are?
Has this made you any less sensitive of a person?
Have you developed defenses to avoid this type of situation?
Or do you welcome the opportunity to listen without expectations?

they treated you like you were a shoplifter and you didn't steal anything.I went to the check out and nobody was at the desk, I waited politely for a lady to come up there. I bought 3 shirts , a pair of pants, a pair of sunglasses and a purse. The lady checked the purse to see if I stuck anything in there. Which I didn't . That wasn't what really Pissed me off . Then when I handed her a $ 50.00 dollar bill she held it up to the light , I would assume to see if it was counterfeit. Which it wasn't . I paid , said nothing and left . But I just thought that was rude. If you were treated like that would you go back there?

I think that this is a tough question. Assume that you're being called this by someone who's opinion you value.

I met the wife over the internet in a 20's only chatroom..I was very nice and kind plus i used a pics of a guy that i got from a gay porn site. Eventually she fell in love with me when we met at a neutral location face to face she was disapointed by my dishonesty. But i was able to use the love card and say that if she really loved me that she would love me for my inside not my outside..To my astonishment this worked and we got marriend..since then ive been cynical and mean and rude to her ever since i tricked her into marriage..How did you reel in your perfect ten?

Ok, so the thing is I had a job interview yesterday. I have been forewarned (3 different people) that this boss is rather "pro semite", meaning she prefers to hire Jewish people (even though the job has nothing to do w/ being Jewish).

Sure enough, during my interview, she asked me if I celebrated Hannukah (in August?) and I told her "yes, I did last year."
(which is true, because my boyfriend is Jewish, and we did. Also, if we get married, I will have to convert.)
Secondly, when she saw which college I went to, she said "oh, XXX, what a great school and so many great Jewish programs" to which I responded "Yes, I love XXXXXXX (the school)."

I also sort of hid my cross under my shirt. (I don't wear it every day and I am not very religious but I thought I might as well hedge my bets right?)

so I would like to know: do you think she believed I was Jewish? I am going to hear from her next week & I really need this job. Thanks!

The 27 of next month is our sixth month anniversary. We don't celebrate them aside from a casual "hey it's been x months" and a really long nice kiss. But I feel like this is a pretty big deal, so I want to either get him something or plan something for us to do. I want it to be memorable not necessarily expensive. It doesn't have to be a big deal either. I'm just at a loss of waht to do,

i hate the word "normal". its prejudicial and judgemental. and all these questions that ask, "is it normal to..." are silly at best.

who's to say what's normal or not? and please dont say "society",
that's a cop-out to not take individual responsibility.
