i've been doing some thinking and have come up with a philosphical idea that there is no external gods only internal ones. what i mean by that is that man is his own god. everything in your life that youve ever wanted,everything youve ever done or had done to you or whatever is by your own choosing and your own will. im sure you can pray for it but what is prayer other than you being afraid to do something alone so you "ask' for help and suddenly its able to be done..thats just you reassuring yourself that you can do it..also when you get down to it..when you pray and you know deep down its true..that you pray for something that will benefit you...basically what im trying to say is that man can be his own god and really has no need to turn to external gods and crazy explanations for things like "immaculate conception". im sorry i can only provide you with an abbr. version but if you'd like to read more on this concept visit http://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.ListAll&frie

I'm 24.. Have been blessed to go to a private school for both H.S and college. My family is NOT rich, they just believed I could do more through private education. I identify with my race, but in ways I feel disconnected. I take offense when i'm told that I come off upity, even though I'm aware of the advantages I've had in life. I'm still african-american, get looked at like every other african american woman, and don't think that i look down on ANYBODY!

So where is this misjudgment coming from? Why am I being misjugded? What can I do?

There's a lot of questions on here asking if The Golden Compass is anti-christian, and stuff like that. Most people answering are saying stuff like,

"Christians are only boycotting this movie because they are bored w/ their own pathetic lives!!!"

Christians are not boycotting this movie because they are, "bored with their own pathetic lives". They're boycotting it because it goes against what they believe in and they don't want to spend their money on or support something that goes against their faith. They believe in God and they're boycotting a movie that is written by a guy who hates God (And yes, he said in an interview that he did.) and this guy wants to turn kids against God by getting them into the movie, then buying the book series and becoming against God. (God is killed in the final book.)

What do you guys think about what people are saying about The Golden Compass? Don't you think it right to stand up for what you believe in?

We don't celebrate x-mas for religious reasons but anyhow, all of our neighbors do and so this year, we even did lights outside (just plain green lights) and I got some target dollar gifts for the neighbors kids. Anyhow the situation is that one of the neighbors who said that everyone was exchanging gifts has ordered some toys for my kids online. She is the exact same person who said that the gifts exchanged would be dollar store type gifts... I am pretty sure that they are not dollar items that she got for us and now I am irritated because she has spent way more than I did. What is the proper thing to do? Should I get her another gift at the last minute? I mean, this just seems like a rude game to me...

Many religions believe their god or gods are all places at all times, or can exist in multiple forms. The trinity seems to create problems in their minds because it's 3 distinct persons but still one God. How can someone believe God is omnipresent yet deny the trinity?

A very good friend of mine is a lesbian. She's my co-worker and is, in my estimation (which I know you will say is flawed; maybe so), an outstanding woman who loves her God, her family, and her job (as well as me as a close friend in whom she confides much). Now, according to our God's Word (and many people in here and elsewhere), she's going to enter into eternal destruction from the face of the Lord. This saddens me and is most grievous for me to ponder. How is God ever going to remove this sadness from my mind and my heart before I die concerning her? She does believe in Christ as the Son of God, and she loves Him much. (And all this assuming I'm not headed there myself.)

catholic church claims to be following to bible, but i can see that they walk contrary to the scripture, God said to call no man upon the earth father except your father in heaven.
and though Marry is blessed among women as the bible says , she is not to be worshiped or prayed to, she is still only a woman. and whats up with the priests, and all the child molestation? and people asking the priest for forgiveness , this is so wrong, He cant even forgive his own sin.and the temples have become a place to get drunk and eat. even at the Lords super getting drunk,,,this is so wrong,
i do not doubt that the catholic church started off right , but traditions and men seeking power came in and made the word of God no effect .
the pope ,,,,just who does he think he is, if you use the bible as you say than you know we have one high priest and it is Jesus.

The goddess came to me when i got pregnant at 19 and i was going to have an Abortion.It was a dream

I was outside siting on a bench a old woman was siting next to me and a little girl was in front of me. She had long curly blonde hair and Blue eyes, and she said to me "mommy please don't leave me! I don't want you to go."

I said "I have to go!"

She said " I dont to go. I want to stay here with you. Please dont go!"

The old lady next to me had a calm look on her face and a small smile.

Hi I am Catholic & I am studying Arabic & Muslim culture. I do know that when a Arabic female she could only marry to a Arabic man.

Ok back to my question. There are many culture have have different Gods like Buddhist,David,Ganesha-Elephan,Virgin-Mary & Chinese Gods. I want to know which the Arabic God are they talking about?

I just finished paying bills and reviewing all of the shopping I did this past weekend. Typically, I take half of what I buy back after I crunch numbers and realize I can't afford it! Then after a sigh of relief, my eyes watered because I realized that for the first time in 31 years, God has blessed me to be financially stable. I paid bills, bought presents, and treated myself...and I still have a checking account balance, with no panic!

I am abundantly blessed and grateful.

Please share your "shining" blessing for 2007...I'll probably cry because I am pretty emotional right now :) How can you not weep at the goodness of the Lord, when we rarely deserve it?

I'm not a Christian trying to prove "god" or be a smarta$$ and question your beliefs. I'm just asking. If this miserable life is all, shouldn't I just kill myself and get it over with? Please no Christians telling me everyone has a purpose, NO, we live to die anyway.

Why live at all if I just die anyway? You get me? Please I'm very serious.

Don't tell me to see a shrink, I don't have any mental issues, depression is bull people just want pills.
