1. It's a good exersise for your brain
2. It gives you broader view believe it or not cause some things are said so differently it's like different mentality.
3. Looks good on your resume and sometimes can come handy.
4. Makes travel easier. You don't need to always rely on other people speaking English as a second language.
5. You can show off
6. If you're captured by your enemies you can understand what they say (made me think of Russians fighting against Napoleon. Russian officers were fluent in French while French officers didn't speak Russian. )
7. You can date a foreigner
8. You can read science papers published in a different country.
9. If you're a business owner it gives you better opportunities.
10. Makes you feel better about yourself.

1. Some jobs these days are paying more for people who can speak other languages (mainly spanish).
2.Being able to communicate with people from other countries.
3. Learning the differences of other languages.
4. Traveling, if ever you we're to go to a different country you could communicate with others around you.
5. Being able to order meals in other languages at resturants.

For me personally, in chronological order:
1. To graduate from high school (French)
2. To communicate with other people in my city (French)
3. To graduate from university (Italian)
4. To get a job (French)
5. Just seemed like fun (Japanese/German/Swahili)
6. To talk to my mother-in-law (French)
7. So I knew what my kids were saying (French)
8. So I could read the mail, shop, and otherwise get by in my daily life in Switzerland (German)
9. So I can understand my kids' homework (German)
10. So I can make new friends (German)
