My wife isnt so... abrasive as I so when this fellow comes over handing out tracts she politely took one and then allowed this fellow to engage her in conversation about his lord... to make a long story short by the near end of it he was nearly frothing at the mouth yelling about how my wife and her lil sister (7 Yrs ole) is going to spend an eternity in hell and so on, utterly terrifying this poor lil girl and my wife a bit too. By this time I gots me food and am back over there, so me being me, I tell him to beat it or Ill beat him. And he gets pushy and abrasive, so... me being me, I am more than ready to school this fellow in leaving one way or the other, when a cop at long last shows up and sends this guy packing but threatens me with a ticket... mayhaps I had one coming if I'd a done half the things the guy deserved but...

Do you think people should be allowed to terrorize children with this stuff?

When we talk of sharing "The Gospel" with others, what gospel do we share? Where do we point them to in the Bible?

Grace and Peace!

If you only knew what goes on within my heart—Sometimes the pain is so great that I feel as if everything will break. The smile is a big cloak which covers a multitude of pains. —Mother Teresa

The falling of religion is the beginning of the end. "Wait ! Not yet."
God was the scarecrow holding back the black crows; thus the crows will now feast on sweet corn of injustice. Leaving nothing behind their path of destruction. Thus the farmer will starve and lose all his profit.

"Almost there."
What does that have to do with me? My dear sweet fallible corn, don't be so eager to be eaten. The message is clear, without God there is no protection from destruction.

What destruction? Hitler, Jr. / Nihilists / Sorrow / Loneliness

God is America's greatest asset; it's our universal license to kill.
God glorifies our lives and gives many people serenity.

Think of that before you answer.

I'd rather live in a country of hypocrisy than a godless country any day. For a man who thinks he is god isn't a man, he's a fool.

One day you'll realize society without a leader is not a society at all. Imaginary or not I vote for God as my leader instead of any of you fallible apes.

From Matt 16 we see that Jesus authorized one actual Christian organization that he named the "Church," a term never used previously. He appointed Peter as the first CEO, established a hierarchy of leaders headed by the Twelve, and gave the Church leaders authority to "bind and loose" so that their decisions, made under the influence of the Holy Spirit, would be ratified in Heaven.

The Church has had a continuous history since 33 AD:
http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/12272b.htm
Members join by meeting requirements (including baptism). They accept doctrine (including the Nicene Creed) and incur obligations (including weekly attendance at Mass).

Protestants are Christians who have not joined the one Church. Most belong to counter-organizations with different leaders, membership requirements, doctrine, and obligations. Many of these organizations do good work, but why call such an organization "church"?

Twas the month after Christmas and all through the house
Nothing would fit me, not even a blouse.

The cookies I'd nibbled, the eggnog I'd taste.
All the holiday parties had gone to my waist.

When I got on the scales there arose such a number!
When I walked to the store (less a walk than a lumber).

I'd remember the marvelous meals I'd prepared;
The gravies and sauces and beef nicely rared,

The wine and the rum balls, the bread and the cheese
And the way I'd never said, "No thank you, please."

As I dressed myself in my husband's old shirt
And prepared once again to do battle with dirt---

I said to myself, as I only can
"You can't spend a winter disguised as a man!"

So--away with the last of the sour cream dip,
Get rid of the fruit cake, every cracker and chip

Every last bit of food that I like must be banished
Till all the additional ounces have vanished.

I won't have a cookie--not even a lick.
I'll want only to chew on a long celery stick.

I won't have hot biscuits, or corn bread, or pie,
I'll munch on a carrot and quietly cry.

I'm hungry, I'm lonesome, and life is a bore---
But isn't that what January is for?

Unable to giggle, no longer a riot.
Happy New Year to all and to all a good diet!

An answer to a question I recently asked has prompted this question (Thanks FuriousBlueballs I've been wondering the same thing) In those shows where some preacher on tv does something to a member of the audience (heal or whatever) and they roll on the ground shake excessively and sometimes babble things, what's supposed to be happening and why are they supposed to act like that?

as a non-believer, I was actually expecting it when I accompanied my friend to a Catholic Mass, and I thought I was going to hear bashings against the protestants since protestants are bashing Catholics without any qualms, but I was disappointed because I didn't hear any bashing from the Catholics even until the end of the Mass.

is it possible that the attacks are one-sided, being the Catholic Church the recipient of the protestants' hostility?

Do you think the increased number of interracial marriages is good for society? Does your religion agree with your opinion, and if not, how do you reconcile the difference.?

I want to believe that I have one million dollars in my bank account. And I want to hold anybody in contempt if they should ever say or do anything that would challenge that belief. When the bank refuses to honor my checks, I want to accuse them of “attacking my beliefs” and to insist that, whatever they do, they must not do anything that even hints at a lack of respect of my belief that I have a million dollars in my bank account.

Should this belief be criticized? Or should I be allowed to continue believing, unchallenged and unquestioned (and unarrested for writing bad checks)?

Hat tip -- this was just too good not to steal it from The Atheist Ethicist, the good Mr. Alonzo Fyfe:

the last 3000 years derive from plagerized beliefs of a one great FAITH within Egypt.
1. Conquering and fall of Egypt 1080 b.c - Out sprouts the religion of Judaism.
2. Romans conquer Israel, Egypt anongst many other places - Out sprouts Christianity
3. The conquering by Mohammad - Out sprouts Islam.

THIS is of the 3 major religions of anicent times "spread" through violence and murder. Yet I am to believe they EXEMPLIFY the LOVE of the CREATOR in heaven? Faith OF the Creator has NO religion and I am it's spirit who is spreading the message to believe in YOURSELF and the Lord NOT "religion," for you are HIS temples. Does it offend you to know the TRUTH?

I tend to sing along to any music I hear. Not really sure why, its just something I do. I tend to sign quite quietly if there are other people around.

I was just wondering do other people find it annoying when people sing along to music? I don't at all, I think it's good, but I'd like to know if people get annoyed by it, as I might have to stop doing it :)
