instead of himself? If he is all powerful then how come he couldn't have taken the burden himself?

Nicely put Oneeye.
As god, would you want to sacrifice your son over something you could do yourself?
No. Neither would I.
Glad I'm not christian.

Howdy Gal. I have stated a few times I'm having trouble with the 1914 thing. I've read some literature and researched WW1. I can see the reasoning behind their claim, but I myself have a problem believing "man" about these things. If Jesus the son of the almighty does not know when the system will end then who is "man" to say they know when it began. The way I grew up (baptist) we were not to question Jehovah God or Jesus. Although my Daddy is a big believer of the trinity doctrine I never understood that one either. I grew up believing they were each different. My reasoning on this is if you have a group of people, lets say 50 people. Ok 50 people have something they agree on and work to accomplish it, they have worked together as "one" to accomplish their goal. They are 50 different peoples but worked together as one. so for me God, Jesus, and Holy Spirit have always been separate from each other. They worked together as one but It does not make them 3 in 1. Anybody who stands for their beliefs is courageous, but I also agree with lungboy. There are many who may not follow the wt thingy, but have found a home with the witness. I have read some of your questions lately and have to say I am glad that you don't seem as angry at us witnesses anymore. I understand your problem/anger with the WTS, and I am sorry you have had to go through so much. But if you would a lil advice from a Old Southern Biddy, and this has nothing to do with a religion. Letting your anger grow can change who you are, and can cause medical problems also. I have a brother-in-law who has cut himself off from everyone except my sister because of his anger of something that happened 10 yrs. ago, his health has deteriorated and is taking a huge toll on his mental outlook. I love most everybody so I still go out of my way to have a relationship with him. So please be careful.

first, i am a Pagan, so i don't believe this, but i do have a degree in Christian theology and here is my thought:

you are missing one important part of doctrine. in Christianity, the belief is in the Father God, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit. these are three entities, BUT they are also one entity. the holy trinity is the three in one godhead. some teach that it is like body(Jesus became man), soul, and spirit - just like each of us have these three, so does the godhead.

if you follow this line of thought, God didn't send his son to suffer alone - in Christian faith belief, the godhead DID take this burden himself. it is thought that God used the person of Jesus, part of the trinity, to set the example of obedience - the son being obedient to the father -

it isn't easy to understand. heck, i still don't get it. hope that helps a bit.

Because apparantly, Jesus was God on Earth, even though he is you know 'the son of God' Christians believe he is God in human form. Well that's what I heard anyway. The bibles tricky lol

Jesus is God in the flesh.
No coward goes into town (Jerusalem) knowing ahead of time that He would be killed in a horrible, slow way.
Jesus went for that very purpose, He came to this Earth for that very reason. This is not cowardice, it is love for His creation.

A Coward ? You must not be a parent. It takes great strength to see your own child suffer, because you suffer with him until the conflict is resolved.

Jesus WAS God, in the human (flesh) version.

And what would be easier for you...watching your child die in a fire, or risking your life to get your child out but then you die in that fire? ....So how hard do you think it was for God to watch His Son being crucified on the cross?

Two points to reason on:

Jesus had to die. His father CANNOT die. Even if he had wanted to he couldn't have.

Had God died, who do you think would be in charge of the universe while God was dead?

God saved His Prophet Jesus from death of curse. God of Jesus was all powerful. So called st. paul fooled roman pagans to believe that roman paganism is similar to christianity. Desciple of Jesus never believed the he died on the cross.
