just have to wonder why a christian has the right to tell you about god and your going to hell and yet if you say no god then you are being rude--seems like double standards to me-as for the child here is a great opportunity to teach her that there are fanatics out there and to be very leery of them----ps--for the next time those portable in a can air horns work really well-one by the door used to emphasize your no can quiet down the most ardent of fanatics and no tickets----smile and enjoy the day-

I'm wondering how this fellow even got near your wife and her sister...so I'm assuming that you weren't in a hospital...if you were, talk to the head of it and let them know what happened (even if not a hospital still talk to the head of the place). These places (hospitals/med clinics) normally have no tolerance for this type of thing.
Let me guess...**Jehovah's Witness...this particular group must 'witness' to so many people every so often, I think it's once a month or something...my step grandmother was one, a nice person unless she was talking about her faith...then she was totally uncontrollable.
Threatening to give you a ticket...not being the same as actually giving you one tells me that he may actually have been cheering you on inside :) Report it to higher ups and request that this practice be placed under a zero tolerance regulation...where I live the only religiously affiliated people approved to enter a hospital (no clinics) is a Priest, Pastor/Minister etc. As well, there are hospitals here run by nuns but again...this type of attitude is not tolerated. Good luck, hope the little girl gets better very soon.
** DISCLAIMER: My decision to name a denomination openly? just in case there is someone who might take exception to this...my reasons: I've had several such encounters. I've had them stick their foot in the doorway when I thanked them but informed them firmly I have my own beliefs. Even pushing heavily on the door didn't stop them, can't imagine how sore their foot was :)...I have had a team of women screaming at my little children who were then 2-4 & 5 that their mommy was going to burn in hell and didn't deserve to be their parent, that was a tear fest as my children tried to understand who these people were yelling at them! They kept using their bodies to keep me from closing the door in their faces...we've had them yelling at us about Hell and us being demons while we've been moving into a new home...imagine what the neighbors were thinking! So, if I offended anyone, I'm sorry but there is no other sect that I've had such heated threats from...The opinions expressed here....yadda yadda :)**

no it was wrong if it was this way you explained and not just making it up. But defintely he shouldn't have been agressive or been yelling or getting loud. That is not how you are supposed to present the gospel to people, as you see it turned out how? Yea so that guy was mislead or just let his emotions play him. Although I am not saying that you shouldn't tell someone there going to end up in hell if you don't accept it. If you didn't tell people that you would be a liar, so yes it has to be done but towards a child it can be done in a different way. It's annoying how these "christians" come off and be like this. Just read the tract, that is one thing our pastor teaches us. Just give them the tract is they don't won't to listen and let them read it or do whatever they will with it.

As a Christian, I also get annoyed by other faiths or denominations trying to proselytize to me. I've been stopped by Mormon missionaries and hounded by Jehovah's Witnesses who will keep coming to the front door again and again. I handle it in one of 3 ways: 1) I don't answer the door. 2) I say, "No thank you, I already have my own beliefs." and walk on. 3) I tell them that I could not possibly support their particular religion since it promotes homophobia and I find that immoral. Then I walk off.

I keep a shotgun in the closet. I also live in Texas where it is legal to shoot a guy trespassing on your neighbors property. They tend to leave quickly here.
I actually had one of them called the sheriff about it. The guy showed up and asked me and him a few questions. The cop tells the guy that he is lucky I didn't shoot him because it would have been legal. He then asked me if I wanted to press charges. Welcome to Texas....I love the laws here. And no they shouldn't be allowed. If you asked him to leave the cop should have filed trespassing charges.
For some reason they have all started skipping my house. Getting labeled a crazy red neck has some advantages.

Funny how he has the right to speak his mind, but the cop did not think you had a right to defend a woman and child.
Unfortunately, if the cop did not see what preceded the altercation, it's your word against his as to who is at fault. Tell your wife that it's ok to be rude to strangers and ignore their advances. That will defer 90% of the whack jobs out there.

I do believe in free speech, but a 7 year old child is not fair game anywhere. I would think most Christians would recognize the authority of the parents to teach their child about religion. Goodness knows if you tried to teach them about atheism they would come totally unglued and knock your block off, at least figuratively. This guy was WAY out of line!

There is a difference between sharing the gospel and frightening children. This guy had it coming to him, if you ask me. It just shows how young he is in the Lord. A person who had been serving the Lord longer would have had a more tactful approach. But really, he should have just invited you to church, and if you went, great. If not, he did his job. Time to move on to someone else.

The cop threatened you with a ticket? Are you sure there isn't something you're not telling me? ;) Because, I'm glad you stopped the guy from terrorizing your little sister-in-law.
When the kids get to be old enough, they can learn to laugh at the ridiculous things in tracts. That's what my daughter does.
