(1) God is malevolent, or
(2) God is impotent, or
(3) God doesn't exist.
Has to be one of these

PBS is showing "Judgment Day", about the Kitzmiller vs. Dover Trial, which removed an attempt by a fundie school board to put creationism in public classrooms.

http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/id/defining.html

The interviews with some of the key witness are on the link, including reknowned theistic evolutionist Ken Miller, a biologist at Brown University.

Professor Barbara Forrest, a good friend of mine at Southeastern Louisiana Univerisity, is also interviewed. Interesting short clips.

Here's to PBS!

subtley brilliant inventions of all time.

There is a competitive element, getting a best answer I think makes any user swell with pride. Anyone putting a qustion has a limitles supply of opinion, from people not only wanting to be helpfull, but some competitive for points and recognition, most people a mixture of both.

Harnessing competitiveness, which I see as a usually destructive emotion, to do just the opposite, to help your "competitors" is a richly ironic piece of genius.

It just got me thinking about how competition has positive spin offs in other parts of life, like in business for example.......

Opinions please........

My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways my ways, says the Lord. Isalah 55:8

When things go wrong, we tend to blame God, or not see what God has in plan. Many times God's ways are often unknown to us. God is always at work around us, eventho we not always see all the work he is doing, we should always keep this in mind.

~!~ Peace

If you are going to snicker about this, please don't do it openly in your answer. This is something very serious to me.

Is there anything wrong with cutting (self-injuring) from a religious Christian standpoint? Like, is it against the Bible or something? Is it wrong (other than the obvious, like you could end up hurting yourself badly)? Please email me (through my profile) if you don't understand my question. Thanks!

I am 14 years old and bisexual and I have heard alot that it is VERY wrong to be a Christian person who supports gays, or is gay. Everyone in my family is against gay/bisexual people, except me. I think that no matter what gender, if two people love each other, then what the hell! Go for it! It's just wrong to judge someone just because they like the same sex.. But is it wrong if you are a Christian?

Logic would dictate that this would depend on what part of the world you were living in, what ethnic group you belonged to, etc. But back before there was Jesus or a bible or Christianity in general, what religion do you think you might have been? Would it have mattered? Would you have gone to hell because you didn't accept Jesus and God as your lord and savior (since Jesus hadn't showed up yet)?

For this question, please put your personal beliefs aside. Answers like 'because God is the only one' and etc etc are not what I'm looking for.

I don't understand religion very well as I come from a strong atheist background, but I do know that the Christian church ask for money and other religions take up almost all of your day praying.

So there must be some thing that attracts people to religion?

Because I personally feel that there are more valid things to spend money on and more productive things to do in a day.

I hope I havn't offended anyone and you understand what I'm asking.

So, on one end of the spectrum, there's people who conform to what the media wants society to be. They dress in what's trendy, listen to what's trendy, etc.

On the other end, there are those who are like, "I HATE conformist. I HATE MTV and VH1! I hate Abercrombie (sp?!)!" Some of these are people who are so against it that they call others posers, teenyboppers, etc. They get mad when people listen to mainstream stuff, but if more people start listening to the lesser known stuff they listen to, they get angry too.

Aren't they basically the same? The only difference to me is that one conforms to pop culture and the other conforms to the group that's anti-pop culture. But either way, they're conforming to something.

What do you think?

That is exactly what you are doing and you do not even know it. you really do want to know the truth. That is why you are on here disputing all questions fron Christians. Oh yes you are too. Otherwise you would have better things to do with your time that disputing something that you do not believe in. But, that is a good thing, stay on here and just maybe someone will say the right thing that will get your conviction. You know that God exist and you know that you need him. I know that if I did not believe in something that I would change the channel, but you won't because you ARE really searching.

You never see atheists on here trying to recruit Christians.
