That is based on an analogy from 1 Cor 1:22 "For indeed Jews ask for signs and Greeks search for wisdom..." and the answer is that a Christian should not reside in either. As Christians we do not trust in the miraculous, (signs) nor in the intellectual, but in the power of God as received through faith.

1 Cor 1:23 "but we preach Christ crucified, to Jews a stumbling block and to Gentiles foolishness, 24 but to those who are the called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God."

I guess that depends on if you receive revelation from God. If you dont, then clearly you reside in Athens. If you do, then thats a different story.

Unless you are receiving revelation yourself, you cant be using anything other than reason. Because you are reasoning out the revelations of the past.

tertullian is accepted as a church father (one of the greatest), so i think it would be unreasonable to suggest that he does not speak for the mainstream of his church.

tertullian even makes a guest appearance in 'alice in wonderland'.

i shall take your opinion as seriously as his when you show me where lewis carroll wrote about you.
