In the philosophy section, people ask this question all the time: what is time? does time really exist?

And youd be happy to know that most of the answers dont really answer the question.

Does your religion mention anything about how Time came to be? Does God work within the framework of Time without being fully a part of it?

Comments?

Defining Personhood
Colorado Court OKs pro-life ballot initiative to expand definition of personhood

Denver, Nov 14, 2007 / 10:30 am (CNA).- The Colorado Supreme Court on Tuesday released a decision approving a pro-life group's ballot initiative to restore legal personhood to human beings from the moment of conception.

"We fully expected this positive decision from the Colorado Supreme Court. We are pleased that they supported the Title Board's previous decisions. Plans to begin our petition drive are underway," stated Kristi Burton, spokesperson of Colorado for Equal Rights.

Colorado for Equal Rights is seeking to pass an amendment expanding the definition of "person" in three parts of the Colorado Constitution. The new definition will define "person" to mean a human being from the moment of fertilization.

Rudy Giuliani supports reasonable restrictions on abortion such as parental notification with a judicial bypass and a ban on partial birth abortion—except when the life of the mother is at stake.

Catholic teaching has long condemned abortion, and in recent decades has spoken in defense of the ethical treatment of human embryos as technologies advance. Taking into account considerable scientific evidence and theological considerations, Catholic teaching holds that human life begins at conception.

Are there closet atheists out there? I mean, when I left the baptist church I was utterly ostracized from everyone including to an extent my family. So... do you wonder if for some it is all a matter of peer pressure?

Most religions see other religions as totally infeasible and ridiculous. I know that atheists see all religions that way, and so if a religious person suddenly realizes that their religion is false... like, "Oh, so my god is not real, now I get it..." would they just say, "Ah, I guess there is no God," or would they just pick out of the hat a new religion, perhaps one they previously thought to be infeasible and ridiculous?

Also, if you are a person that see's other religions as totally false and pretty ridiculous, then shouldn't all those other wrong religions be smart enough to realize they are wrong? Shouldn't they all convert to your religion? Or would they just become atheist?

Everywhere you find that sex is practiced without marriage between boys and girls starting age 13, virgins are becoming instinct creatures. Is this allowed by any religion?

I am catholic, yet at times, to be brutally honest i wish i was protestant?
but its for purely selfish reasons not because i believe in your "protest". You see, my Church will not give me Her blessing to divorce but i really wouldnt mind the option. well i figured if the Queen, bless her heart, if she can give Prince Charles her blessing to divorce (albeit reluctantly no doubt) surely she wouldnt frown on me getting one too.
Actually im confusing myself now...pls tell me just who is the visible head of the Protestant Church?

dear people
to clarify, i am catholic, yes Roman Catholic. my beliefs wont allow me to be otherwise. take my words literally dont interpret it for me. (no disrespect intended). The Catholic Church does not grant divorces fullstop. i can apply for an annulment but i dont like my chances. sure i can get a civil divorce but my Church wont recognise it. im just being brutally honest, if protestant i wouldnt struggle with this decision as divorce is permitted

Just one small example: 50 years ago, a man divorcing his wife was viewed upon as a scoundrel.

I'm a girl in my early twenties. and lately I have been feeling very un happy. I know I have a lot to be grateful for but i just feel really down. I met a guy who I thought was nice but that has turned out to be a mess. I noticed that I always seem to meet guys who use my insecurities againt me. The last one told me I was a sad lonely girl with no friends. He always made comments that I was hanging out with one particular friend in general and that I was tagging along with her and her freinds. I don't really have loads of friends and this is something that hs always gotten me down. I always seem to have bad in my life especially with realtionships. I don't really think I am a bad person but I never seem to be able to get it right. I feel very insecure and low and am doubting if my life is worth living. THEY SAY GOD CARES but I don't think he even lsitens to me cos if he did my life would not be so MISRABLE!

....the Ten Commandments, and etc.?

You do understand our faith don't you? You know why Jesus Christ came right? We are no longer under the old law - it was nailed to the cross - the old law only showed us our need for a Savior; that nobody could be so good and so perfect as to keep the whole law.

Jesus showed us a new way - by our faith and through His grace - that has nothing to do with law.

So why do you continue to quote the Old Testament as if we were still bound by its precepts today? I hope you understand that is the kind of dry legalistic religious doctrine of the Pharisees.
