Is it purely a physical act? or are there other aspects involved? are these defined in your religious text or is this simply your opinion?

GETTING CAUGHT!!!!

Two prior marriages, two ex's, my definition is:

1. Any sexual contact, including passionate kissing. Easier to forgive if no feelings attached to the 'ho. One night stands, friends with benefits.

2. Everything EXCEPT sex, some kissing, sneaking away to do things with the sleaze, texting, cell calls at the funniest times, multiple calls a day--even when working in the same building. But no sex. This was worse as it lasted months before they physically acted on it and the "longing" for each other becomes a huge part of the cheater's life. You remember what this felt like when you first fell in love, right?

So, it really depends on specifics, not theory.

We all have "lustful" thoughts, it is human nature to fantasize about what we don't have. A book compiled by a puritan king 400 year ago is not a good judge of the scientific facts of human behavior. Lust & imagination are scientific facts, just like eating and breathing. Expecting religion to overcome thousands of years of human evolution is insanity at its finest.

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over
and expecting the outcome to change.

Jesus said that "whoever looks at a woman with a lustful eye, has already committed adultery with her in his heart".

This is not a matter of opinion, it is God's word. The physical action does not happen out of the blue, it takes place after contemplating and desiring the action in the heart and mind.

So before the action takes place the sin has alreadty been committed in the heart and both are the same.

That's why satan uses pornography which is so readily available these days to anyone, because if he can keep those images in your mind long enough, it will not be long before the actual action takes place.

Christians and non-christians both sturggle with this problem, but if you take the matter before God and confess it genuinely, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Sexual acts with anyone outside of your marriage partner. It takes 2 people to commit adultery and they are not married to each other. God designed marriage for a purpose and each partner mates for life and is faithful in sex, trust, care, love, etc. If you understand this then you can understand more spiritual things concerning God. Christ is often referred to as the bridegroom and the church (Christians) are the bride. One day He will return for His bride and there are many references in the scriptures that the bride should be ready, pure and waiting just for Him. The first Commandment to us is to have no other gods ....... only the One, true, Holy God Jehovah. We are to be faithful to Him alone. Not to worship any other (and worship is simply being attached to, looking to for your needs, or putting more importance on than you should). A wrong sexual partner would be like a false god in your life. We are created to be monogamous and anything else brings spiritual death. It breaks relationships with the true family and causes lasting problems for self and others. It is possible to be restored, but it very difficult.

It may be spiritual which refers to a direct violation of the vows that you have made to God. That is why the scripture always make mention of Israel and Judah as being adulterous.

It may be physical which may be a wife or a husband having extramarital affairs, that is, sexual relationship with others outside of marriage.

God bless

Jesus said in the Sermon on the Mount (book of Matthew) that if you look at a woman (or a woman at a man) with lust in your heart, you've already committed adultery in your heart.

So fantasizing can be adulterous.

A lot of people say, "Well if it's something you'd never really do, it doesn't count if it's just in your mind." Jesus disagrees.

I just love the idea of "thought crimes" --

One can be married and notice others. It's called being human. Marriage does not equate to being biologically dead nor does looking at another mean that you love your spouse any less.

Keep your zippers zipped, your legs crossed and no touching. We are human and we notice others. Thoughts happen.

Futile attempts at being holier than thou are just that -- FUTILE.

One becomes adulterous if he/she commits adultery. It begins in the mind which may become an act.

You can't love sin and God in one breath. You can't jump to both sides of a fence. If the love of sin is allowed, it enslaves man until death occurs, and the cycle repeats itself until sin is mastered.

sexual relations with another when married.

ALSO we only need to imagine something sexual with another person to commit adultery. we don't even need to touch.

many dont realise they have broken that commandment not to commit adultery, EVERYBODY has.

vv paulo... legitimate divorce (due to partner committing adultery) and remarriage (person who did nothing wrong) is NOT adultery my friend. please make sure you know what your saying before saying these things.
