Have people treated you like night and day? They have me and I just wanted to know if others had the same experience.

Why do JWs use the term "The Truth" when talking about or referring to another JW? Do they think everyone else is stupid or lying?

To clarify, I am an atheist. This question is not intended to argue religion, it is simply a thoughtful question. I will mark as spam any answers meant to do so; you have been warned. I also have a theory that I call "Fight the Faith" that has nothing to do with me being an atheist trying to denounce all religion. If you're curious about it, ask.

The government paid and continues to pay Native Americans and African Americans for past wrongs. Until recently, there was still a law that allowed a person to shoot a Mormon on sight. Joseph Smith went through a lot of wrongful prosecution as did many of his followers. Why has the government not yet paid them as it did Native and African Americans.

In addition to that, the constitution allows for freedom of religion. How then was it possible to create a law that allowed a person to shoot a Mormon on sight just because of that person's religion?

Im so tired of people that think they are so uppedy and mighty and go to church on sundays and wed. and say they are christians until the bible says something they dont agree with, then its ok to just forget that part of it and make something up out of nowhere. Why would people call themselfs christians and then just defy there all mighty book that way. Its like there saying Im a christian.........well the part I like about being one anyway......no not that part I dont believe in that part......o no I dont think it should be that way........o well............

My partner and I live in different states - although we will be living together. The thing is - last night we were talking and she said to me that all the posters and pictures I've got on my walls are somewhat childish and when we're living together, I won't be able to have all the pictures. I've got about 175, and the majority of them I've had for years and they also hold meaning with me.

The thing is... I'm already 'sacrificing' a great deal for her. I'm moving to another state, leaving behind friends and family, I'm moving into a different workforce because it'll mean more money for us. I'm also allowing her ex-partner, who has mental issues, to remain living with us, be it in a granny flat out the back.

And I ask myself - am I being irrational, getting upset over not being allowed to have my pictures up, or am I sacrificing enough already and should I simply tell her that the pictures are staying? What do you all think?

Then what in the world happened?

Why are gays being condemned in the Bible if he created humans?

Why are there murderers, rapists, etc etc?

If he created us then wouldn't that mean he created our thoughts, too?

What, is it just to "balance" things out?

i am a roman catholic and i pray every night . but it seems as though my prayers are not being answered . what am i doing wrong ? who do i pray to ? jesus or god himself ? i need some help because my life is miserable and i want to still have faith in my religion but how can i when things just keep getting worse for me ? are there any prayers i can pray to help me find faith ? any prayers to find true love ? what about for losing weight ? please help me anyone who is a very religious catholic.

I am doing hospice visits for a 67 year-old man with debility. He can't really talk, but he can communicate on some level. He likes to be read to. So, what are some good books/stories to read to him? Maybe something from the 50s, when he was a child? What are some other things you think he would enjoy?

I have been pondering why creationists will so often try to criticize evolution without having any understanding of what evolution actually says. They make assumptions that are completely untrue, and then ridicule my viewpoint based on their false assumptions. As I thought about it, I realized that perhaps too many evolutionists simply call them wrong without explaining their side.

Then I wondered, am I doing the same thing? Am I ignorant of how creationists view the world? In an attempt to not do the same, I ask for help. I have seen, more than once, creationists make the claim that a single flood is a better explanation of all geologic observations than current geology. Those of you that think this way... please help me understand this view. Simply choose any geologic phenomena, and anyone who gives any evidence or halfway logical explanation for how it can be explained by one flood will get best answer. I do this in an honest attempt to learn, and my judgements will be fair.
