I'm wondering why Australians are so eager to help other poor nations but not their own indigenous people. The outback Indigenous people live in conditions to the standard of a third world country but it is like no-one cares, except for a minority. Can any one answer this question honestly.

I spend about $10-15 on my aunts, uncles, cousins and in-laws for Christmas presents. I'm debating between a crystal cross that I've seen advertised at a local department store (approx. 7"-8" tall), or a gift bag full of "needfulls" (post-it's, highlighters, binder clips, markers, double-sided tape, etc.) What do you think is better?

I'm a very strict Catholic, but not a zealot. However, I take holidays very seriously and attend Mass on every Holy Day of Obligation. My boyfriend, who I met before I converted, is very understanding except in how he wants to celebrate various holidays, like Christmas. As we are getting married within the year, I would like to have this issue resolved.

If intelligent beings like us are too extraordinary to happen "by chance" (or, perhaps, through the opposite of chance -- natural section), then... isn't God intelligent? And did he happen by chance?

I'd say the "major" 12-Step programs are Alcoholics Anonymous, Al-Anon, Narcotics Anonymous, Overeaters Anonymous, and possibly Debters Anonymous.

Why do the woman folk have to sit at the back and pray while the men are all at the front?

You would think this sort of sexist behaviour would have been done away with years ago!

Tsk tsk you would think that they were following rules from a book from ancient times that have no relevance today by or something .

I've recently read that the Netherlands are on their way to legalize Euthanasia for the severely Depressed and Lonely (ex. men and women who cant get girlfriends/boyfriends, involuntary celibates, permanent virgins, senescent folks). The requirement will be proof of the intolerability of the patients life and that the patient has no chance of bettering by way of psychological examination.

This is great news and hope for people like myself who, as a 23 year old American male virgin at an intolerable 5'5" (which will NOT get better), would like nothing more than to go to my local Dr., and obtain a prescription for a drug that will finally put me to a peaceful death.

I know that there are a lot of critics of Euthanasia - I've heard all their vacuous arguments. A person's life belongs only to that particular person - he/she should have the right to relinquish it.

Euthanasia of this kind will no doubt be available to the American public in the future. What are your thoughts?

how the bible says not to drink, but he turned water into wine (and then jesus never did a sin? but he drank the wine?)
how the bible says not to be a glutton, but if you watch your weight, you're being vain, and the bible says not to be vain either... so if you're fat or thin you're sinning
and that animals are on the earth to eat so is it sin to be a vegetarian?
and that gays and lesbians are going to hell but there arent any sins you wont be forgiven for.
whats up with that?

My girlfriend who is doing her masters in sociology told me this fact and she asked me why it is. With America changing so much in terms of demographics, is what we're seeing on TV a good representation of what North America and the world is? I find it hard to watch TV lately because it's the same drawn out stories about pretty much nothing. With so many people in the world from different backgrounds, aren't there some amazing stories out there?
