I'm wondering why Australians are so eager to help other poor nations but not their own indigenous people. The outback Indigenous people live in conditions to the standard of a third world country but it is like no-one cares, except for a minority. Can any one answer this question honestly.

yeah I can answer it honestly. I don't donate to overseas charities. I also wouldn't consider helping anyone unless they were doing something to help them selves. Most indigenous people deserve a hand, but there are alot that depend entirely on hand-outs and drink everything that they are given I've been to places where they have been given homes to live in which they have burnt down, and live in the empty shell. There are good and bad in all races, regardless of their colour and race. I know some aboriginies who are school teachers and ones even a professor. I have alot of respect for them. But you can't help anyone who won't help themselves

My friend, The indiginous people of Australia have received enough money per person over the past 10 years to build each one a 4 bedroom house.
The real ones live in remote communities. Question: if a aboriginal Australian did, would they expect city comforts? Answer: NO
Indiginous people receive benefits other Australians do not, I think my friend you should look at a lot of their own people who ripped their own kind off in the past.
Remember the so called "Secret Womens Business" which proved to be a pack of lies, or the, so called "Stolen Generation" in the rest of Australia other unmarried women also suffered this, and were told in some cases their babies had died or the so called "Invasion of Australia" where no shots were ever fired.
How about more Indiginous are in jail than other races, well, well! ever thought that they commit more crimes and that is the sole reason, yet they have access to the best FREE legal representation, better than I can get.
I remember in Wilcannia NSW, where they destroyed over a million dollars worth of Indiginous houses in a matter of months, yet not one person was charged. There are more communities like this, you ee it often on TV.
Look around the communities, drugs, petrol sniffing, sex crimes, women bashing, whos fault is this?? not the rest of Australia my friend. As far as an apology goes, its the Church and the Government of the time, not my generation, we have bent over backwards to ry to help.
I have the utmost respect for the TRUE indidinous people, but not a lot of these half/quarter casts running around with chips on their shoulders with the "Gimme, Gimme, Gimme" attitude.
These are just some of the reasons most Australians are fed up, I'm afraid I am one of these. The facts speak for themselves.
I am an Australian Aborigine and a 5th Generation Australian.

Why do you think that Australia doesn't give to their own indigenous yet is quick to help other countries? This question is not one that can be answered in a place like this. The answer is very complex. I guess the shortened version would go like this.
White man introduces indigenous people to alcohol as payment for land and services. Indigenous people discover they like the effects of alcohol. White mans government says "whoops, we made a mistake giving them alcohol. Let's give them handouts instead and teach them to live like us" (even though they are more than happy living as they always have). Indigenous get money and spend it on alcohol. White man gives them houses. They pull off the wood and make a humpy from the tin roof then go and buy more alcohol. Lots of money is given to the indigenous people. Maybe they should give them aid in the form of food instead.

There is much racism in Australia towards the indigenous people but it is because white man does not understand the full story.

Indigenous Australians never asked for help. White man thought he knew better and decided how they should live. It's a bit like you or I going and taking over the neighbour's lives because we think they should do the same things we do!
OK....I'm off my soapbox now...sorry but I believe the Australian government has a lot to answer for

The original inhabitants of the Australia were the Aborigines. This racial group were a mixture of Polynesian, Micronesian and Melanesian. Their habitant is the West Australia. It is mostly a desert. When they are hunting they used weapons like the bommerang.
