Let me explain

Alcohol:Jesus drank, you just aren't supposed to drink on Sundays. And that is a Venial Sin, not a Mortal One. Jesus didn't want to turn water to wine, as that was a test of his power. But he had to obey his mother and the 4 commandment, so he amused her anyway. This is why Catholics believe she holds sway over God.

2)Gluttony is over-consumption. An SUV is a more modern example of gluttony. Being healthy and watching your weight is not vain. It is religiously advised to treat one's body like a temple. Being skinny to attract men, would be another venial sin.

3)Vegitarians. Many believe God favored vegitarians, that is why he preferred Abel's Grains over Cain's meat. Also Adam and Eve were vegitarians in the Garden of Eden, since their was no death. You can't eat meat on Lent Friday's if your Catholic. God also disproved of eating the flesh of certain animals, like pork and shellfish.

According to most Doctrines Gays and Lesbians don't go to hell. You can go to hell for pre-marital sex. So you have to ACT on your homosexuality. Jesus never talks about Homosexuality in the EDITED version of the Bible. In Galacians, he does say the soul is genderless. In the Gospel of Mary there is some pro-bisexual arguement. Jesus and Mary Mag. were possibly asexual lovers (making love in a none male dominating way).

Hope this sheds some light.

The Bible says a lot of things. You can take any one out of context to oppose or enforce something. Most important religious scholars say the story of Lot and Sodom had NOTHING to do with homosexuality.

Christianity does contradict itself here and there; I will give you that, but:

"how the bible says not to drink, but he turned water into wine (and then jesus never did a sin? but he drank the wine?)"

The bible says not to drink in excess. A little wine is actually healthier than no wine.

"how the bible says not to be a glutton, but if you watch your weight, you're being vain, and the bible says not to be vain either... so if you're fat or thin you're sinning"

A person who eats only what he/she needs to survive is not necessarily thinking about his/her weight or appearance.

"and that animals are on the earth to eat so is it sin to be a vegetarian?"

No.

"and that gays and lesbians are going to hell but there arent any sins you wont be forgiven for.

whats up with that?"

The Bible only implies that homosexuality is a sin. Nothing about going to Hell.

You're mixing and matching things and taking others out of context.

As for drinking - While some claim that the Bible forbids all alcoholic drinks, I don't feel this can be supported. Since you don't seem to know your Bible, I won't bother with which verses, but it's not completely forbidden. What is forbidden is drinking to excess and drinking in situations where others less knowledgeable might be led astray from seeing you drink. As well, certain groups of people were not to drink.

How can you compare watching your weight to gluttony being a sin. Your body is a temple and you are to take care of it. Watching weight is part of that. Gluttony is eating like a pig, above and beyond what you need to fuel the body.

Being vain is being OVERLY concerned about yourself, in whatever measure.

Where in the world did you get the idea that being a vegetarian is a sin? Get real. Eat meat or eat vegetable as you see fit.

As for forgiveness of sins, there is a difference between seeking to live a Christian life but stumbling and making mistakes - sinning - which everyone does and being one who willfully lives in a state of sin, be it as a homosexual, an alcoholic, an adulterer, etc.

Lastly, if you really don't know what the Christian faith is about, or any other faith for that matter, don't attack them. Legitimate questions are fine, but sarcasm is not.

I do not believe it is wrong for Christians to drink unless the intention is to get drunk or buzzed because then it's an idol.

I don't believe you are being vain by trying to stay healthy. Excessive dieting or dieting for the sole purpose of trying to look good could be a sin. You would be making your appearance an idol.

(you will have to copy and paste this link into your browser and fill in the ___ with only the letters in the string "a*s*s" since yahoo answers does not like this donkey term ;-) )

I also don't believe that bing a vegetarian is a sin. Actually, Christians believe that only Vegetables were intended to consumed after creation and it was only after the flood that Noah was given the right to eat animals.

It is believed by Christians that when one accepts Jesus wholeheartedly that he/she will be forgiven for his/her sins and go to Heaven. Because homosexuality is not supported by the bible and true Christians believe the bible there are very few who would consider themselves to be "gay Christians". If somehow there was a gay person who truly believed Christ died for them then they would go to heaven. This faith is between God and that person so it is believed that only God can judge whether that person has a wholehearted faith or not. Christians are called to live out the most Christ-like life that they can but since it is impossible to be 100% free of sin, all Christians fall short in one way or another. I believe the term "Gay Christian" is an oxymoron based on the definition of a Christian but this site may help explain it anyway.

Obviously I am a Christian but I have tried to be objective. I was agnostic for most of my life so I know how that is. Hope it helps!

The Bible advises you not to get drunk, it's okay to drink moderately just like what medical field also advises.

Watching your weight and labeling it vain is subjective. But if you do nothing but watch your weight then I can see it as a problem.

Not all sins are forgiven.

Drinking wine in Jesus day was common. Getting drunk is the bad part You are not sinning in taking care of your body, that is good sense. Its when pride sets in .It does not say it is a sin to be a vegetarian. Where did you get that? You go to hell for rejecting Christ. Seek the truth in scripture and be set free..

The Bible doesn't say not to drink, it says not to drink in excess. Watching your weight is not necessarily vain - it's healthy, and there's a big difference between vain and healthy. There is one unforgivable sin, by the way - you should really look it up. Try reading the Bible yourself first, before you start to listen to other's judgement of it.

Where are you getting your info...?

Ecclesiastes 3:1; 4;13 For everything there is an appointed time, even a time for every affair under the heavens:
a time to weep and a time to laugh; a time to wail and a time to skip about;
and also that every man should eat and indeed drink and see good for all his hard work. It is the gift of God.

Ecclesistes 8:15 And I myself commended rejoicing, because mankind have nothing better under the sun than to eat and drink and rejoice, and that it should accompany them in their hard work for the days of their life, which the [true] God has given them under the sun.

The bible does not inveigh against use of alcohol. (Islam, however, does.)
It is not vain to watch your weight.
It is not a sin to eat animals, or to choose not to do so.
Actually, the whole concept of sin is a myth. It would literally be an offense against god, but since there is no evidence that god even exists, let alone as to what opinions he might have, the concept is void.
