My girlfriend who is doing her masters in sociology told me this fact and she asked me why it is. With America changing so much in terms of demographics, is what we're seeing on TV a good representation of what North America and the world is? I find it hard to watch TV lately because it's the same drawn out stories about pretty much nothing. With so many people in the world from different backgrounds, aren't there some amazing stories out there?

No, not saying that white people are about nothing, but it's the same content over and over again...US military, single people in LA/NYC, housewives in OC..etc. etc. There is more substance out there that should be explored.

Avoid sitcom's. Most of them are stupid and don't represent reality. Try PBS, History, science, nature and other informative channels. Middle America still watches Archie Bunker & Amos and Andy reruns. Ugh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hollywood tends to make "Formula Films". Same old sh*t!

Whites make up more that 70% of the population. So the percentage is not out of norm. And yes, there are some shows with not only substance, but also taste. You are just looking in the wrong place.
