No you don't.
Think about it this way....
If you're a mythical vampire you never age while everyone you love dies around you and everything you know changes until the world is not the same anymore.
If you're one of those people that THINKS they're a vampire, you drink blood, decide to live your life during the night, etc, then you become ostracised from society.
Why would you ever want that?

I think what you're doing is fantasizing about the romantic version of vampires. Truth be told, vampires in the hollywood sense don't exist. What i refer to as the "ISM" does exist. People from every culture and walk of life eventually find each other in a Vampirism... umm... coven, if you will, and quite frankly, I don't understand their drive. I suppose you could do more research under the heading "vampirism" or "headhunters" (you'll understand the relevance of that when you see it) to get a deeper understanding of the culture of vampires.

STEP 1: Find another vampire and let him or her bite you. Employ the swiftest, easiest and most painful method. STEP 2: Become an evildoer and die in a state of sin. Note, however, that this technique (which comes from France and Greece) is not very plausible; there would be millions of beasts roaming the streets as we speak. STEP 3: Have an undead person gaze at your pregnant wife or yourself, if you happen to be expecting. Employing this method will not help you change into a vampire, but it may change your unborn into one. STEP 4: Chronically lie to your parents or die without being baptized. (Note that these ways can't be very credible either.) STEP 5: Instruct your father to scream this at you in anger: "May the ground reject thee!" Having yourself cursed in this or another way by your parents could turn you into a fanged one after death. STEP 6: Gobble up a sheep that was killed by a wolf and eventually, you'll become a bloodsucker. STEP 7: Travel back in time to the Greece of several centuries ago, where people who were excommunicated from the church were considered good vampire candidates. STEP 8: Come down with chorea (a disease associated with uncontrolled twitching). STEP 9: Ask your descendants to make a cat leap over your body when you've reached the hereafter. There are many possible routes of becoming a vampire. Some of the more prevalent mythological routes are:
Suicidals, eretics, schismatics and excommunicants
The Church has long considered suicide one of the unforgivable sins. It was commonly believed in Christian Europe that such souls were unable to rest in the grave, especially in hallowed ground. Their bodies could not decay and return to their original dust (the most commonly accepted proof of vampiric infection) and they left their graves at night to prey upon the living who were granted the chance of salvation that they were denied. The act of excommunication prohibited one from receiving the sacraments of the church. This case is similar to that of the suicide. He who died excommunicant was believed to be unable to return to dust or to find release from the body.
Sinners
Those who were particularly cruel or violent in life were believed to be prime candidates to return from the grave as vampires. Those who led dissolute or debauched lives were also likely to return as vampires. This, of course, was only the case for those individuals who did not repent and receive absolution before death. Again, the soul was believed to be bound to the body, preventing the natural decomposition of the body. And while the soul was bound to the body it was also bound in servitude to Satan.
Witches and wizards
Those who practiced black magic or summoned spirits were believed to servants the devil and particularly subject to vampirism. If a witch or a black sorcerer died unrepentant he, like the suicide or the excommunicant, was bound to earth and unable to pass into the next world. Also, the witch or sorcerer was more subjected to demonic infestation. The offspring of a witch or a sorcerer were also subjected to becoming a vampire after death. This was especially true if there was reason to suspect that the child might be the result of a union between a witch and an incubus or a sorcerer and a succubus.

Seek God, for their is something wrong with that thought process. If its eternal life you want. You cant get it being a vampire. Only god can grant that wish. Why do you want to condemn yourself to hell for eternity??? People who consider themselves vampires (Cause you have to KNOW that there is no such REAL thing as vampires) are people who can't deal with reality and choose to live in some demonic, underground, fantasy. Please, I pray you will reconsider this and instead of wanting to be come a vampire, check into becoming what god wants you to be. There's a book (besides the bible) called "The Purpose Driven Life" by Rick Warren. Since you want to commit to a cause. Commit to this book for 40 days and at the end if you do not know what your purpose is, then do as you wish, and I'll still pray for you. Life is real, substituting fantasy will never fill that void your feeling. You know that's what your trying to do, fill a void in your life. Fill it with our lord Jesus and I'm telling you from experience (Ex-felon, Ex-adulterer, Ex-drug addict, etc. etc...) I have always searched for that inner satisfaction thru NUMEROUS ways and found out that it has always been temporary, never complete and never long lasting. But the inner joy that god gives me has always lasted and has been completely satisfying. God Bless and I hope you change your mind. IN JESUS NAME Amen :)

various answers here, depending on culture your looking at. Be bit by a vampire, commit suicide, die without last rites, being a werewolf before you die. Those are the ones off the top of my head.

Get used to disappointment.
All the black lipstick and eye makeup in the world is not going to turn you into something that doesn't exist outside of Anne Rice novels.
