Has anyone else had a toddler that wasn't walking at 15 and a half months, not even close to standing on their own without holding onto something. His feet are always turned out to the side, like that comic strip Cathy! I think his feet turned out pengiun like are what's stopping him from walking. Anyone have any advice for me to help him walk?

A woman has a child that is mildly mentally challenged (cannot talk and is over-active), but she is a great mom to her child. She has a girlfriend who is very cool; they hang out, talk, laugh, and just do all around girl stuff. However, when the mom with the special needs child needs a sitter, she can't count on her girlfriend to watch her kid. Is it wrong to be upset at the friend for not wanting to assist or support her when it comes to watching her kid? Why do you think the girlfriend doesn't want to watch the kid? Is she afraid that maybe she can't handle the responsibility?

We have tried everything, her 4th birthday was months ago, so she is definately getting more than old enough. We've checked with the pediatricians, tried different means of punishment and yet it is still happening. She holds it when she wants to..then other days she'll have 1-5 accidents today. Regardless of how many it is, she at least has one a day. Mostly it is usually pee, however 2-3 times has been poop. This has been going on for months, however it only started out as a random accident here and there and just built up more and more since then. Today she has had 4 accidents, and we are just at a loss. Completely unsure of what to do anymore because we are so absolutely frustrated. Any ideas?

My daughter seems to always want ice-cream for a reward. I don't want her to become used to getting sweets for a reward, but I can't think of many things to keep a variety of rewards on hand. I don't think little toys are a good idea, as I like to keep a tidy house. any ideas?

I have tried countless things to try and get my 3 year old child to listen, including time outs and taking away priveledges, but nothing seems to be working. I am starting to feel like she is controlling me rather than me having the control. i was wondering if any other parents out there are experiencing a similar situation or have already gone through this your suggestions would be very helpful thank you.

You know how the kids leave the duckies in the bathtub and the water seeps in from the little hole in the bottom, after some time that water builds mold. You can't really get in there to scrub thtat stuff out.

My daughter has a set of three and they are just too cute to toss. How do I clean them and completely remove the mold?

He also likes to put things in a perfect line, such as instead of playing with toy cars, he'd line them up in a row like train carts. When playing with blocks he'd rather make a big rectangle out of it. He knew his ABCs, numbers, colors, shapes, and 24p jigsaw puzzle by 2. A very hard headed, stubborn boy, very resistent to change. I'm curious if any of you parents had a child like that and how did they turn out to be when they get older?

We have to ask her do or not to do something over and over. She looks at us like we are speaking foregin to her. We ask her why she doesn't listen to us and her reply is always "i'm a kid". We have tried to use positive reinforcement, but it doesn't work. Any ideas?

I thought after the first week it would stop, most kids cry like that the first week because they don't know the place. But its going on 3 weeks and he still does it. How can I get him to stop? I do this all on my own so there are times I need to use the restroom or go to the kitchen and when I go he will cry. And its a Screaming type of cry. I just don't know what to do about it and its really starting to stress me out. Any ideas?

I bought my son some waterproof trainers and a potty because I thought he was about ready to potty train. Sometimes he would take his diaper off the second he wet it. I'm just letting him go at his own pace right now, because I don't want rush him, but I can't get him to even try on his training pants and if I ask him about using the potty he just screams. Do I give him a little push to get him started or do I just keep asking him and let him just do it when he wants to?

My daughter went to school for the first time today and is not happy about it. Her father and I took her and her dad picked her up. She was so unhappy that she would not eat her snack of a brownie. She then threw a fit when he took her to the sitters. How can we make going to school happy for all of us?

I am looking for a babysitter for 2 weeks for my 3 year old while I am having my baby and have asked the "potential sitters" for references. What questions do I ask the references? I am over-paranoid, and want to make sure I cover all my bases. Thanks!

My son is 2 1/2 and just absolutely refuses to say sorry. He hits me or Dad and then when we put him in time out for hitting and then tell him to say sorry he just won't say it. So we return him to time out and still he won't say it.
I undertand that we as parents have to pick and choose our battles but it's not like he willingly says sorry a few times a day for us to let the other times go, he never ever says it.
The only time he will say sorry is pretty much when we bribe him, if we say you can play this or that or have this snack or that snack only if you say sorry first and this feels wrong to me.
At what age did your child say sorry when it was appropriate and how did you get him/her to say it?

Myself and my husband are planning a vacation with some friends in the next coupld of months. None of these other friends are married nor do they have children. We will be doing adult things on this trip...drinking, dancing, etc. We are just wondering if it is normal, or okay to leave our 19 month old with Nana for this week? Nana adores her and she adores Nana. We simply feel a little guilty about leaving her for so long, but know she would be well taken care of. Has anyone else left their child for so long? Any ways of coping?

Okay, he's two. I understand that. I get that he is going to ask why a lot. But does anyone have any ideas to get him through it faster? His first response to any statement or direction from my lips is "why?". It's making me nuts!

my 2 1/2 yr old daughter just wont listen to discipline. i also have a five yr old son and she taunts him and hits him. he cant sit and do anything without a fight. she climbs on things, rips things, and just generally terrorises the household. we all breathe a sigh of relief when she goes to bed. if i send her to her room, she just laughs at me. i've tried 'time out' on a naughty chair but she thinks that is a game. im really losing patience with her.

He will not wet on himself - and hasn't in months. But he is content on "going potty" in his underwear. How long will it take for him to be fully trained? What other measures can I take to encourage him? HELP!! Anyone else with this problem?

My son is 3 and a half....he has been dry during the day since he was 2 but is still wearing nappies at night. I was waiting till we got to the point that they were dry in the morning but that day has never come!! The thought of waking up night after night to change wet sheets is not appealing to me but I really want him dry soon. We did try a while ago but by 1.30am he was wet and I gave in and put a nappy. Please has anyone got any ideas or tips to help???
Thanks xx
