The kids' ages range from 1 to 10--boys and girls--so I can't put the same thing in each bag. I don't want to spend a fortune either. Any ideas?

We always have children of different ages and genders at our son's (he's 3) parties because of the ages and genders of our family members. What we found that works best is going to Costco or BJ's and buy the chips, cookie, or fruit snack packs (they're usually around $5-$6 for each) and the jumbo bag of candy that has 85-100 pieces ($6). We chose two different snack packs like chips and fruit snacks and put one of each in the bags and each bag has about 5-7 pieces of candy (jolly ranchers, tootsie pops, tootsie rolls, laffy taffy etc.). Then we go to a really good dollar store and pick 2-3 gifts that come multiples in a pack (i.e. the silly straws that are bent and sends your drink ever which way before it reaches your mouth, bubbles and miniature card games like memory, old maid and go fish). We usually end up spending about $25 for 16 goody bags. Hope this helps.

Babies - teething rings, rattles, small stuffed toys, cars are a hit at that age, anything that they can hold, but not swallow. No candy, but put in some crackers, or cookies.

Older kids - noise makers, bubbles, sunglasses, squirt guns, party poppers, erasers, pencils, super balls, VERY limited amount of candy like some gum and a couple of suckers, Hot Wheels cars, cheap plastic jewelry, boxes of raisins, fruit snacks, themed party favors.....the list is endless.

Between my 2 kids, I've thrown 17 birthday parties. These are the things that I've found go over really well, and you can get most of them from the dollar store, or a wholesale party supply store. I NEVER spend more than $30 on party supplies and we usually have anywhere from 5 to 12 kids for a party. Hope that helps. =)

Entertainment for this range of ages is impossible:) The 9 mos & 1 yr-old don't even need entertainment, because they'll just play with toys. Your daughter would enjoy just watching Nemo and some Dora dvds; but you might need a craft activity for the 9-yr-old. Maybe you could buy something and that could be the favor for her/him (bead stringing or slime for a boy). You can fill 2 disposable tippy cups for the other 2 with teddy graham packs; and tie some onto the craft package for the 9-yr-old. ... I'd keep the party to about 2 hours, or the 3 younger kids are going to get too tired and need their naps. You might consider a bunch of different types of pizza (cheese for the young ones); fruit and veggie platters and apple juice for the kids. ... Check Oriental Trading Co. for decorations and favors. They have a huge supply of inexpensive things and will send you a free catalog too; you'll use them many times in years to come! It shouldn't be too hard to find Dora or Nemo decorations..... Have fun! Sweet little ______ will be TWO. We're having a party and inviting YOU! She's so excited, and just can't wait... please come and help us celebrate.

There are play dough packs of little ones all different colors at Toys r us, they'd be fine for the older ones. For the little guys, just some age appropriate snack packs and maybe buy a pack of fingerpaint and put one jar in each goody bag?

Hit a dollar store and buy flashlights!!! I Kids LOVE having real things! With toddlers I would keep it simple. Even a small box of chubby crayons & a pad of paper, scotch tape. I find the normal plastic party favors are costly and soon forgotten. Another favorite thing is a poloroid picture of themself with the birthday boy/girl.

I personally think having the party is more than enough. I quit the party favors myself. The age range it too wide, of course, for the same gift. Maybe just a little candy would be nice. All kids, of all ages, like candy.

I choose flash cards for each age, found them at the dollar store. I also added the sponge balls for pool or bath time. I choose a couple other items but cannot recall them. My one year old loved balloons so I tied a balloon to each goody bag with the name of the child that it belonged to, made it fun for the older ones to look for their name. Plus it added decoration.

i always give out gift bags catored to the age and sex of the birthday child but if your going to have a lot of different age groups and you want to please them all on a budget have age appriote games enough so that every child wins once and allow the child to pick a dollar store prize from under a cover there you go games and prizes all in one withough costing you a fortune and lets face it little party favors are soon forgoton or thrown out.
