today i took my 2 year old daughter and 8 month old son to the market for groceries. about half way through, my 2 year old decide she wanted me to hold her (she asks, "howd joo" which is her ay of saying "hold you"). i distraced her by tlling her to ride on the side of the cart. she enjoyed that for sometime until she wanted into the cart. i allowed her to rind inside the cart until i had to use it for the gorcery items.
by the time we reached the end of the store she threw the biggest tantrum i have ever seen her throw. the ENTIRE time "howdjoo howdjoo" ... she was crying so hard and long she had snot, tears, and spit running down her face and onto her shirt!!!!
i was so embarassed. i didn't know what to do since i also had my 8month old.
i had my two year old sit in 'time out'. it was about 20minutes until she finally callmed down.
ever have anything liek this happen to you? and what did you do, what do you suggest?
i vented by yelling at my hubby which helped me

My daughters friend is a younger boy, his parents are close friends of ours also. Whenever they have a play date the boy follows her around attempting to hit her. He also has an ear piercing scream that he lets out whenever somthing doesn't go his way. He also throws wild fits about every hour. My daughter is so sweet to him through all of this. She talks about him all the time and I believe she truly cares about his well being. He is not nice to her and I can't stand to watch her feelings get hurt.
Her friend's father has been a friend of mine since high school. We are now in our 30's. I don't want to make anything awkward but I feel that if I stop the kid's play dates then I am also putting to big of a burden on our friendship and that we would stop being friends, which sucks because there aren't that many people here in ths small town.

It is usually sung in daycares and preschool. My son wants to sing it but doesn't know all the words, and we have moved away from his preschool.

My granddaughter is just turning 5 in late September and started kindergarden last week. She is very, very bright but socially behind, very shy. She is totally bored at home (new baby and mom is suddenly busy with baby - think she also is feeling a little left out) and has not friends close by to play with. The first day did not go to bad but it has gone down hill from there. She is waking up crying during the night, begging her parents (my daughter) to please don't make her go, crying often during the day. My son-in-law and daughter are heart broken along with me and don't know what to do. Is this normal? How can we make it easier for her or should we have held her back a year. She has always been a home raised child so we felt this would be a very healthy thing for her. Please help - we are open to any and all suggestions from other parents. Thanks so much !

My son is 2 1/2 yrs old and im having a really hard time potty training him. I baught him the new Pull Up's Cool Alert's, and they dont seem to work on him cause he never lets me know when he has to go potty. I've also tried leaving him with boxer briefs to see if he lets me know if he has to use the bathroom but he never does. My parents suggested me to give him a small spanking and tell him that he needs to use the potty but that doesnt see to work either; all he does is repeat what i say but he doesnt do it so there's no point to it. Anyone have any ideas or tips on how to potty train a 2 yr old?

My daughter has diarrhea and a mild fever. I’ve brought her to doctor and doc said it was probably caused by some virus infection, and since she's active and has mild fever (37.5), nothing much should be worried yet.
she's passed stool 7 times in 14 hours. she told me her tummy was painful just now. I’ve already given her medicine. what more can I do to comfort her? I’m so worried and upset seeing her like this.

Is it normal for 18 month old toddlers to have nightmares? Even when they're living in a happy environment? What can you do to get them to stop having nightmares? They wake up and scream at night.

Mine doesn't, and it kind of concerns me. My son is allergic to peanuts, and so is one of the other girls in his group. But I see the other kids in his group bring PB&J sandwiches for lunch all the time. All his caregivers are aware that there are a couple of allergic kids in the group, and watch over them at lunch time, but I still worry, cuz kids trade lunches and steal bites all the time, don't they?

Seriously!!!! I stopped breastfeeding him 5 months ago and ever since he wants to touch them all the time. It happens in public and at home, whenever he wants. Sometimes he won't go to sleep unless he has his hand down my shirt. This is a serious problem, I asked my doc and she said to "gently tell him no" and take his hand out of my blouse. I'm trying to stay diligent on doing this, sometimes he screams when he doesn't get to.

I hope someone can offer some words of wisdom. My daughter is 15 months and breastfeeding and of course eating solids, too. I just started menstruating again 2 weeks ago. Now I am losing hair all over the place. My pillow is covered with hair when I wake up and I lose lots in the shower when I wash my hair. Could this be hormonal? The only medicine I take are my prenatals which I've been on for over 2 years now.

My 2 year old granddaughter keeps getting bite. The little boy doing the biting is 19 months old. She is in a small daycare. The childcare provider is a wonderful lady who truly cares for her kids in care. She watches them closly and this kid finds away to bite her everyday. Is this normal? How do we help the caregiver to help the kids. There is usually a toy that both want. Yes, he also has bitten 2 other boys there. But latly it has been her. The last thime it broke the skin. Does anyone have any suggestions? His mother says she has read up on it and it is normal, if it is, when will he outgrow it?

my son is 2 years old , he's 3 feet 4 inches tall and weighs 44.3 pounds...most people say he is very big for his age but what about his weight? he don't eat junk food, he loves fruit and vegies but would eat noodles every day if you let him...there has been times though that he has had 4 eggs and 2 toasts for breakfast....is he average or is he becoming overweight? maybe i shouldn't have any concerns. i am just curious.

My son is almost 2. My dad thinks I let him get away with too much. I tell him "no" all the time when he does wrong (like touch things he's not supposed to), but my dad thinks I need to slap his hand or punish him. Usually i try to remove him from the situation. I feel he does not understand time outs yet. Does anyone have similar problem with your own parents? How do you handle it?

My 13 month old is still breastfeeding and doesn't seem to want to eat a lot. I try to give him finger foods, baby foods, milk, juice, water, cereal, etc....He is very active and smart, but on the small end of the weight scale. His brother was the same at this age, but was not breastfed as long and would drink milk a lot. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
