My son seems only keen to eat biscuits and some fruits but not chicken, fish or rice.

We had this problem with our 18 month old (I'm a nanny). All she would eat was salmon. We would make a meal for her, veges and chicken, or a rice or pasta dish. After a few mouthfuls she wouldnt eat anymore so we'd give her salmon and cheese so we knew she wouldn't starve. After a while she started eating the new foods. We made meal times fun..It sounds silly, but we'd clap and cheer or go HURRAY!! when she had a mouthful of something she wouldnt normally eat. And she loved the attention so much she'd have another mouthful.

Keep trying new things with him to discourage the pickiness and eventually he'll get over the phase.

Well, I have a little brother who's 4, and when he was only 1, we couldn't feed him that kind of stuff. It's harder 4 them 2 digest the meals at that age. Just wait about another year and a half, and your baby may want 2 eat chicken, rice, or fish.

if u r feeding him plain chicken or rice it has no real taste, that's why he prefers the fruits. try to lightly season the food so it makes it interesting for him. try making mashed potatoes with carnation milk, maybe add a little butter, salt or garlic powder. remember if u would not eat it neither will he after all they are little people:)

Just keep trying. He's getting enough protein in his formula right now. It's possible that chicken or fish don't taste pleasant to him right now. Let him decide when it's a good taste. Meanwhile don't make it a big deal. It will likely pass.

When did we as parents learn to limit what child like and don't like? It takes a child several weeks to adjust to different foods. Just keep reintroducing the food you want him to get to "know". The more you let him limit what he eats now the more picky he will be as he grows. I should know. I foolishly went along with my son's likes and dislikes, and now he is beyond picky. I think if I had taken the time to keep reintroducing new foods to him, instead of giving in he might like more of a variety. Keep giving him the same foods you eat - even if you have to blend you meals in the grinder to make them into baby food - and make him eat the same as you. Children learn as much as from trying as from example.
