NICHD research on day care and Bowlby's research on attachment collectively stand as over a half century of research showing that it does far more harm than good for a child under 5 to leave their mother's side on a consistent basis.

Apart from that, nursery schools are pedagogically stupid. Kids learn best from a one on one relationship with a consistently available primary caregiver (we used to call this Mommy.) Kids don't need worksheets, coloring projects, circle time, etc. These are aritificial ways of teaching that remove learning from its natural place in life. Nursery school/day care is the beginning of caring far too early (at a developmentally inappropraite age) about peer opinion, fads, consumer culture.

What a young child needs is to hang out with mommy, nurse on demand, have mommy interact reciperocally and consistently, and go fun and exciting places that interest mommy and child. This will produce an intelligent, curious, happy child. Start with nursery school, and your kid gets even earlier into the institutionalized schooling that you can see is dumbing down and depressing people all around you.
