My son is starting a new day care situation. I'm a teacher, so we've been home together all summer, and now that I'm returning to work he will be going to a sitter's home, (a friend of ours), rather than the child care center that he attended last year. Please share any ideas that might make this easier for us both...? He's a pretty easy going kid, but loves his mama. Be nice please! Believe me, I would stay home if I were debt free!!!!

I want to use my (then he will be 18 months old) son's crib when my next son is born and move my son into a big boy bed. I am scared that we will have the problem of him being able to get out and not go to bed when we put him down? I dont want to have to deal with a newborn and a toddler getting in and out of bed at his leisure. Is this a bad idea? Should I keep him in his crib (he rolls over and goes right to sleep when we put him down for bed) and get another crib for the new baby, or should I transition him into a big bed? And how soon before the baby's born should I do this?

My son will be two next month and he wont go to sleep for nothing! We have a routine that we follow at night, bath, brush teeth, read a story, go to sleep. He even helps pick out a book and get comfey in his bed while i read him a story.i give him a hug and kiss, then once i turn off the light and close the door he is immedently up and opening his door. every time he gets up i put him back in his bed, tell him to go to bed then go out and close the door. We go through this every two to five mins for an hour and a half to two hours!!!!! EVERY SINGLE NIGHT FOR THE LAST YEAR! I know he is tried because he is almost falling alseep on the couch! he wakes up at seven-thrity in the morning and takes an hour nap around one pm. I've tried to cut out the nap but he is falling alseep by supper, then wont go to bed untill midnight or later. Please moms with difficult sleepers give me some tips on getting him to sleep. I am going crazy!! is it illegal to lock his door until he's asleep ?

PLEASE HELP! I don't feel like I have adjusted to motherhood the way that I should have. My son is 1 1/12 yrs old and I take care of him and I am a pretty good mom I think but I never planned on having kids and I still don't feel like I was meant to have children. I love being a mom but I used to be wild before I got married and had my son. Does anyone else feel the same way...like you can't adjust to motherhood completely?

I have a friend that has two kids. Her oldest is 4 years old and her youngest is 3 years old. They are going to be starting head start this year but the youngest is not potty trained. My daughter started head start when she was 3 years old and they told me that she needed to be potty trained before she starts. Well needless to say I had her potty trained when she was about 2 1/2. What makes me mad is that my friends youngest son is not potty trained and she told me that she put them in a school that will potty train him. Do any of you think that it is because they do not know that he is not potty trained or are they starting to accept children who are not potty trained and potty training them?

Sometimes a couple of families have me babysit their children in the playroom while they have a book club meeting or something downstairs. I like to watch the kids, but I hate it when they realize their parents are downstairs and then they start crying over it and want to go down. I don't want to yell at them or hold them back, because they know and they'll just cry louder. How do I stop them (it's usually always boys) from doing that? Why can't they just behave and play with the other little kids, and let their parents have a smooth meeting for a change? What to do? Thanks for the help, I appreciate it.

Just looking for what has worked for other parents/single moms. Please no - just spank her comments... that doesn't work!

He does fine for his 20 min. a day that we do "school". Today, I taught him the letter I, and it says i. We even did a cute little poem to remember it. Anyway, he did just fine, but when I went to show my husband how well he did earlier today, his mind went blank, and couldn't remember the letter, or the sound it made. What am I doing wrong? How can I enhance his memory skills? Any suggestions mommys?

My son is almost 17 months old and climbed out of his crib for the first time last night. He continued to climb out 4 more times immediately after that. The next night I left the side of his crib down do decrease the chance of him getting hurt. I put a safety gate in the hallway so if he did get up he could only come to my room. That didn't work though because I woke up @ 3am to him saying Mama from the other side of the gate. He can obviously climb anything. If I put him in his toddler bed, how do i keep him safe from the rest of the house if he gets out of bed while I'm sleeping? Any suggestions on how to resolve these problems?

Here is the scoop. This weekend I went to change my daughters diaper and when I went to lift her bottom up she winced and cried. I had a hold of her legs as I have always done since she was born. I had the daycare do some exercises with her to see if she would wince or cry when not on the change table (she was doing this wincing at daycare as well) when they took her legs and raised them to her head she resisted and let out a cry like she was in pain. Please does anyone or has anyone ever experienced anything like this. I called my daughters pediatrician and of course gotta love those summer hours!!! They are closed till tomorrow just my luck!
