Move him to a toddler bed and tell him you expect him to stay in it at night. (whether he does or not is another story. In your hallway you could put up two gates (one above the other) so he can't get over them. It sounds silly but you don't want a kid that young roaming the house.

I agree, he's absolutely ready to move to a toddler bed, or even a big kid bed. No sense having him get hurt climbing out of the crib.
I used a baby gate in the doorway of my son's room to keep him from wandering through the house. I kept the monitor on so I could still hear him if he needed me.
From what I've read, you've gotten some good suggestions to try. Good luck!

Move him to a toddler bed now and make sure that he can't escape his room and that anything he could get into that may possibly pose a threat to injury be removed from the room. It is better to remove him from the crib or place his crib mattress on the floor than to have him accidently catch any clothing on a part of the crib and become entrapped or hung.

you could take his mattress out of his crib and put it on the floor and let him sleep on that so he wont be falling out or climbing out of the crib until he gets a little older then get a toddler bed and as far as you being a sleep when he gets up i guess you will just have to become a light sleeper . hope this helped

Mine have been 2 years previous and so tall they weren't installation interior the crib o.k. anymore. we could have finished it at 18 months, yet we waited until eventually after their 2d birthday. I went precise for the twin mattress with rails on the factors. it is perplexing sufficient removing the crib, so why cause them to circulate from crib to toddler mattress then right into a twin mattress a twelve months later? We went from the crib to the twin mattress with all of our infants. toddler mattress frames value as much as maximum twin mattress contraptions, so we skipped that step. Now get waiting to instruct him to stay in his great boy mattress. it is done, purchase Jo Frost's great Nanny e book - it fairly works! stable luck!

my son was in his own "big boy" bed at 14 months, so go ahead get him a todller bed, it will hurt less if he falls out. if he moves around alot put some pillows down to break his fall. AS for keeping him safe they have plastic gaurds to go over door handles, that you need to push in the sides to turn the handle. if you have trouble hearing him at night get a baby moniter.

been there too. try a playpen. it will be harder for him to get out. he is still a bit young for a toddler bed. it wont be an easy transition either you will have to put him back to bed everal times a night. just put him back in his bed kiss his head and leave him there. say nothing to him. never tuen on the light

Sounds like it's time for a toddler bed.
Personally what we did is we kept the TV on in the livingroom and my son would wake up, go in the living room, & watch TV until we got up. It worked for us

well...we had the same problem with our lil guy....so we have 6 panel doors...so we bought a door and cut the middle 2 pannels out and then put the door up and put a locking door backwards so he stays in yet we can still hear him or look in and check on him it has worked great....good luck
