My son is 4 years old. He is VERY smart, but has a speech delay. He has been going to therapy for it. He also drools a lot for his age. Not as much as he used to but still a little bit. He is a fast learner and catches on very quickly... He talks a lot but to people who aren't used to him he isn't very intelegable. Does anyone know what causes this and are there any suggestions?

How long was it before you felt comfortable taking your child out in public without a pull-up or diaper? My daughter has had very few accidents in the last two weeks, maybe 3 or 4 and that includes nights and naps, but for some reason I still don't trust her to tell me in enough time when she has to go when we are out of the house. How much longer should I put her in pull-ups when we go out?

My daughter will be 3 in September and she has a couple different kinds of bikes and she refuses to use the peddles...she has one of those 3 wheeler plastic bikes that came with a rocker/handle (i could push her or she could rock the bike like a rocking horse) and she also has a miniture 2 wheel bike with training wheels (bike small enough for 1 and a half yr-3 or 4 yrs of age) the peddles are on the front wheel of both bikes. she puts her feet on the peddles and tries alittle but gives up and uses her feet to push herself on the bike. Everytime i try to help her, explain and show her how to use the peddles, she gets upset and says "NO...i do it myself" or "NO...dont want to" or "you do it" she seems kinda stiff legged on the bike when she puts her feet on the peddles, i try to show her that her has to use her feet and bend her knees when useing the peddles, but she just dont get my point yet! when do little ones learn how to use the peddles on the bikes? how can i teach her?

for anything in someone else's possession. Keys (which he's not allowed to have anyway), food (even when he has the same in front of him), toys... even things IN picture books! What's the best response and discipline that has worked for your child when he says "mine" and then takes?

I try to go to bed around 10:00 (or sooner if possible) but she refuses. If she lays in bed, she kicks around and flips and flops, and will not stay in her bed. People have told me to give her Benadryl about 30 mins before but I don't want to DRUG my child!! Any ideas?

Now that I know the difference between allergies and a cold in toddlers, should I wait to know wich one of them is (cold or allergies) or should I attack it soon. If a cold, I always use Deltuss DM and for allergies, Clarinex. What can I do? I'm afraid if I wait to long (if a cold) it could end as asthma and then she will need therapies... Please Help!!!!

I have a two-year-old son (turned two the end of March) and we are working on potty training. He is doing well during the day when he's home with me and his new baby sister (she was born a week before his second birthday). He doesn't always want to sit on the potty when I ask him, but most of the time he will and he usually pees (he gets to pick out a new building block when he does something on the potty...he gets a "good job" sticker whenever he is cooperative when I ask him to do something-sit at the table for a snack, come to the bathroom, pick up toys...). But when Daddy's home it's a different story. He will not sit on his potty if my husband is in the bathroom and usually asks to wear a diaper instead of underwear if Daddy is home. When we first started potty training my husband was involved, but when my son would have an accident in his uderwear Daddy would yell at him and my son would start to cry.

My son just turned 3 in April and he still will not sleep through the night. I have to admit we have some bad habits of rocking him still and when he wakes up we rock him again. (He is my last child so I really have babied him as far as rocking him.) I have tried to cut out naps and he still fights with me to go to sleep and still wakes up about 2-3 times. So I thought maybe he is over tired so I went back to naps and it didn't work. I just want some suggestions to help my little baby sleep. Any suggestions on getting him to fall asleep in his own bed would be appreciated too! He sleeps in his own bed, but just is up and down, we have never shared a bed with him. It would be nice to get a full night of sleep at least once in awhile! Thank you!

Like I said my daughter turned 2 in April and she is showing no signs of wanting to ween herself. One of my biggest concerns is that I have to go back to work soon and she isn't going to be weened. Any suggestions will be helpful.

My son is just now 13 months old and has all four top and bottom front teeth. Both bottom pre-molars and top two pre-molars and sometimes he acts like his mouth is bothering im again, (drools alot, fusses, bites, chews on his fingers) isn't it too early for him to be getting any more? And if he is would it be his i- teeth? those ones next to the front four?
