My daughter will be 3 in September and she has a couple different kinds of bikes and she refuses to use the peddles...she has one of those 3 wheeler plastic bikes that came with a rocker/handle (i could push her or she could rock the bike like a rocking horse) and she also has a miniture 2 wheel bike with training wheels (bike small enough for 1 and a half yr-3 or 4 yrs of age) the peddles are on the front wheel of both bikes. she puts her feet on the peddles and tries alittle but gives up and uses her feet to push herself on the bike. Everytime i try to help her, explain and show her how to use the peddles, she gets upset and says "NO...i do it myself" or "NO...dont want to" or "you do it" she seems kinda stiff legged on the bike when she puts her feet on the peddles, i try to show her that her has to use her feet and bend her knees when useing the peddles, but she just dont get my point yet! when do little ones learn how to use the peddles on the bikes? how can i teach her?

My daughter was a very early talker, talked up a storm at one, she didn't walk until 14 mos. I had the same issue with her and the bike but her dr insisted not to worry about any of this. Kids reach milestones at different levels. She will when she is ready, do not help her, let her figure it out. My daughter actually didn't full fledge pedal until she went to preschool and they had tricycles there and then her fourth bday she got a bike with training wheels and now she knows what to do, without anyone really showing her. Get her around kids that are pedaling and she is more apt to want to follow their lead.

I agree with the first answer. But if that doesn't work just start calling them "foot peddles" (or make up whatever name you want for them but make sure it has something to do with feet) so that she will know that that's where her feet go.

It took my daughter watching my son ride a bike....seeing him pedal and that brought it together for her. Maybe take her to a park or play date where other kids will be riding little bikes and let her see how it's done
