I am getting ready to get serious about potty training. She has gone both #1 & #2 a few times on the potty chair. I plan on going cold turkey on diapers and have her wear her big girl underwear. I'm not sure what to do at night time though. She always wakes up in the morning with a soaked diaper, even though we stop all fluids by 7pm the night before. If I put her in a pull up at night will that confuse her? Should we wake her up to go potty at night before her father and I go to bed? HELP!!!

I have tried putting her to bed without milk and she just gets up and cries and screams. So I have to close the door and she just cries and bangs until I go in her room to calm her down and i try the same thing over and over and she does not give up but then I give up and she falls asleep fine with the milk. I need help quick!

I know it's my fault because I let her sleep with me in the first place but I really feel it's time to stop. Please advise.

Hello, I have an intelligent 2 year old and she's really sweet except occasionally she'll throw a fit then sometimes it turns into hysteria where she's screaming uncontrollably. These times I cannot get her settled down. She gets to the point where she is uncontrollable. I've tried putting her to bed when she does this, she won't talk to me and tell me if she hurts but she'll just be saying random things or something she really wants, like a wet wipe to wipe her hands. For example; and these happen both when she's tired and when she's not; tonight she is screaming and asking for a wetwipe. it's about an hour and a half past her bedtime. I put her to bed at her normal bedtime and I've been in there three times. Once to tell her it's time to sleep, once to wipe her off with a wet wipe like she asked. (we skipped the bath tonight, so she is sticky) and once more to tell her it was time for sleep. I told her I loved her and haven't been back since. She has screamed for up to two

back from camping this weekend and think she may be dehydrated. Is this something that can be treated at home or should we call the doctor? We have been checking her temperature often and giving her plenty of fluids.

I gave my daughter a cup during meal times (solids) at 6 months and by 7 months she was only taking the bottle for nap times and bed time and by 9 months she was only taking it for bed time. Then she was taking the bottle every other night by 11 months and on her first birthday she seem to just give it up on her own, but I didn't pack the bottles up until she was 13 months. I kept them out incase of a "bad" night and it was just taking up space! :-)

But now I am wondering if she took herself off the bottle too soon, she recently found her Cabbage Patch doll and it's bottle and now she pretends to feed her baby and also picks the bottle up and sucks on it for a few seconds before giving it back to the doll.

I don't want her back on the bottle and I have no intention on bring her bottles back in, I was just wondering if there may be any problems when we have another baby with her wanting her bottle back?

He has just started this behavior. When we get after him for something he will yell 'I hate you' or when playing with his brother (5) and he doesn't get his way he will tell him that he hates him or he doesn't like him. My husband and myself do not talk that way and they are not in childcare. I would like this behavior to stop and would like ideas to get him to stop. Has anyone gone through this and what worked?

I do day care, and I used to watch a little girl over the school year last year. She is the most disrespectful, destructive, and ill tempered child I've ever come across. I worked with this little girl for months and months to get her to start following rules and just as she starts to behave for me, her mother decides to keep her home. Now she's probably 100 times worse than she was when she started comming. I had her one day last week and she destroyed my house, broke toys, and didn't listen to a word any one said. I don't want her violent behavior to influence my daughter or any of the other kids I watch at all. I've been told to just tell her that we don't want her around our children, but how do you do it with out sounding so mean?

What do you feed your kids for lunch?

My daughter is super picky, so I'm running out of lunch ideas. We basically are limited to chicken noodle soup, grilled cheese, fish sticks, or sometimes chicken nuggets. I am usually always able to get some type of fruit in her as well like a banana or apple.

I want to switch up and try different lunches so she doesn't get stuck in such a rut eating the same things everyday.

Any suggestions on some simple lunches?

BTW -- she will not eat sandwiches or anything of the sort.

We're thinking of trying for another child. We have a 2.5 year old right now. For those of you who had one around that age, and then had another, what were the pitfalls, and blessings???

What do you wish you knew before you got pregnant?
What do you wish you knew before you had your 2nd??

What else would you like to have known????

I know lots of kids do it when they aren't hungry anymore, but she does it when she first sits down to eat - so she does it when she is hungry. She is also only at the 5% for weight (and 95% for height) and classified as underweight, so withholding food is not an option (several books say you should end mealtime the moment they throw food).

So far my method has been when she throws something, I tell her that when you throw food you lose the privilege of feeding yourself and then I feed her the rest of her food, which doesn't seem to bother her at all. I've basically been feeding her everything because usually the first thing I give her gets tossed from the high chair. She has to learn to feed herself one of these days right???

everyone is always telling his dad and i how well behaved he is. the problem is when we are at home he is uncontrollable. he talks back constantly, he refuses to eat anything other than the few things he likes (which changes daily), he will act out by hitting us and screaming and crying.
i have never let this kind of behavior go unpunished with him or my younger son but now it is to the point where i want to strangle him because NOTHING WORKS...time out spanking losing priviledges NOTHING...it just keeps getting worse and worse and i really want to throw him out the window sometimes...any suggestions????????????

The boy I have known for 3 1/2 years. I would like to know if this is norm behavior or if he has been abused. He is saying my daughter asked him to do it, and she is saying no, I don't believe she would ask him such a thing. He announced that they were going to the side of our house and I was not to disturb them re: to suprise me. I had 2 windows looking over there from inside (this was in our backyard) so I was keeping an eye on them, and when my 3 m old baby woke I went to go change him and then went back to the window about 10-15 min later, he was laying down with his pants pulled down in the grass while my daughter was sitting next to him (fully clothed) I screamed (Knock it off) and then went out there and said that if he ever did that again he was not to come back, and when I had a chance to calm down I asked them both about this he said that my daughter asked him to do this I don't believe that for a moment because he is the one who said that he was going to take her over ther

My son will be three years and three months old in the first week of August. He's 41 inches tall and seems to be taller than most of the children around his age. When he was two and half people started asking if he was three and a half or four. I'm 5'6" with a mother who is my height and a father and brothers who are all around six feet tall. My husband is about 5'8" with a father who is about the same height and a mother who is a tiny 4'11 3/4" (she's the runt of her family). Our son seems to be unusually tall considering the fact that he's above the 90th percentile for height when he has parents of average height. He stands a good chance of being over six feet tall if he continues his growth curve until he reaches his final height. Do you think he'll stay on his growth curve and be tall as an adult? My cousin is 6'2" at the age of 17 and she is taller than her older brother. I have another, more distant cousin who is over seven feet tall.
