My son will be three years and three months old in the first week of August. He's 41 inches tall and seems to be taller than most of the children around his age. When he was two and half people started asking if he was three and a half or four. I'm 5'6" with a mother who is my height and a father and brothers who are all around six feet tall. My husband is about 5'8" with a father who is about the same height and a mother who is a tiny 4'11 3/4" (she's the runt of her family). Our son seems to be unusually tall considering the fact that he's above the 90th percentile for height when he has parents of average height. He stands a good chance of being over six feet tall if he continues his growth curve until he reaches his final height. Do you think he'll stay on his growth curve and be tall as an adult? My cousin is 6'2" at the age of 17 and she is taller than her older brother. I have another, more distant cousin who is over seven feet tall.

"So interesting that you care so very much about your child's appearance. I hope you are putting as much effort into his mental, emotional and spiritual growth." Please, Z Town Mom, don't be so asinine and ignorant. My son is very well nurtured so don't fault me for simply being curious as to how tall he might be as an adult or concerned that others might expect him to act as old as he looks. Pull your head out of your butt because I love my son as a whole regardless of how be looks.

My son was 40 inches at his 3 year checkup. However, I was not surprised as I am almost 6 feet tall as a woman and heighth runs in my family. Take heart...he will be able to help you reach things as he gets older, stand out in a crowd and possibly be more successful in life. (Everyone else, don't yell at me. Tall people GENERALLY have an easier time of being successful. Although, this is not necessarily the rule.)

He will probably stay on the growth curve as doctors become concerned and look for why a child deviates from the curve.

It is always easy to spot my tall, blue-eyed, blonde children in groups of children because they are always a head above the rest!

My son will be 3 on Aug 27th and he is 43 1/2" tall. He was 24 1/2" when he was born so he was a long baby. I am short only 5'3" but my husband is almost 6'5" so he gets it from my husband's side. All of his family is very tall including the women. I also get asked how old he is and he gets angry when ppl ask him. As I'm sure you have found it is almost impossible to find clothing to fit your son right. He will probably have that problem the rest of his life. I know my husband does.

Everyone grows at different rates! In my life I have been short, average, tall and average again. The best way to see how tall your son will be is to add 2" to your height, then between that and your husbands height is how tall he will be, so your son will most likely be between 5'8" and 6' this is just a general rule and not everyone fits it exactly.

He could potentially but he could also stop growing for awhile, have a growth spurt later on and when he is older, stop just short of 6' (that's what happened with me, my mom is 5'6 and my dad is 5'9 and I have an older cousin who is close to 7'). You just never know.

So interesting that you care so very much about your child's appearance. I hope you are putting as much effort into his mental, emotional and spiritual growth. And that he is socializing as much as possible with people of all heights. He may end up much taller than you and other members of the family, but in the family of man, he will be the special man you raise him to be.
My kid is 90th percentile too. Maybe they'll be buddies!

All kids develop at different rates...

Some faster than others... Can depend on dominant genetics, size at birth and lots of other factors... Be grateful your child is healthy and don't fret about his size... ;)
