This is to make sure that your child did indeed have a fever: temperature reads higher than 37.5°C (99.5°F) in the mouth, more than 37.2°C (99°F) under the arm, or above 38°C (100.4°F) when measured rectally.

If your child has a fever and other symptoms such as listlessness, uncontrollable crying, a stiff neck, trouble breathing, and/or confusion, seek immediate medical attention.

While fever in itself isn't dangerous, sometimes the illness that accompanies it is, so if your child was fine then it was probably the fever helping to kick-start the immune system into fighting off viral and bacterial infections.

Teething!!! I don;t know why but this always happens when we visit my in-laws... good thing my father-in-law is a doctor... he can never find anything else wrong with my son and it always goes away in a day or two... He says that a rule of thumb is: If it's a high fever and your child is active, then they'll be fine as long as you keep them hydrated and cool them off with a cool bath... However, if it's a low (or high also) fever and your child is floppy or not as active as usual, then you should take them to a doctor cause it could be a virus or something else... Good Luck!!!

just an added note to what the others said above...if the baby does have diarreha and is running a fever, the fever could possibly be due to dehydration. Be sure to give the child tylenol or motrin (infants brand of course) for the fever, and keep them hydrated with pedilyte or something similar.

Teething. My oldest would run a fever of up to 103 with teething (all though doctors said that wasn't it, they could find nothing else).

Depends on how high of a fever. Slight fever could be teething, higher could be something going around, sickness-wise.

Lots and Lots of things. teething, bug.......ect. My suggestion is to give it a day and see. If it doesn't go down or get's worse see your doctor. But if it is just a fever and there are no other symptoms then chances are the he/she is teething or has got some sort of bug.

My 3yr old was fine sunday morning then when he woke up from his nap around 3 he was hot all over and he laid around the house and didnt want to drink eat or move. He then puked 30 min. later. I gave him motrin and he went to bed at 7pm. Not normal for my child. I called my fnl whm is a pediatrician and he said it was a virus going around. I gave him motrin and rocked him to sleep. So most likely a virus
