I don't get why people advertise on a mobile car where their kids are located. Its just like a noen flashing sign that says, my kid is at this school. Doesn't it help kidnappers? I just hate those signs so much and think parents should be more responsible on whom they are telling to the location of there kids. Because if your at lets say walmart during the day and your car tells kidnappers where your kids are, surely they know you are not with your kids and have a greater opportunity to snatch your kid. What are is your opinion?

A helmet for biking is undeniably wise, but what about on a skateboard? "Better safe than sorry" is an obvious response, but aren't we taking something away from childhood when we overprotect our kids? Do we wrap them in bubble-wrap every morning before we send them out into the world?

Ok so i had been dating this guy for 6 months he is a single father for his 2 year old daughter. We had problems steming from how he raised her. Now we are back together and i don't want to step on any toes so i pretty much just don't try and say anything about her actions or what he should do, i've realized it is not my place so i just butt out of it.
i just don't know completly what to do (i have no children) but i do babysitt a lot. So should i step in and play the whole "mommy" role for her, since she's never had one, or should i just keep out of it?
I would appreciate it if the answers i get are not so much mean but can just help me out, i'm in a huge predicament and don't know what i should do. I love both of them very much and want us all to stay together.

Does anyone know what the recommended age is for your child to switch off of Homogenized milk? Does it matter if you switch to 2%, 1% or Skim?

Thanks

It never ceases to amaze me just how many moms are so quick to tell you how to raise your child and think b/c they have a child, they know everything. I experienced this very often and am just sick of it. Any of you experience this?

My friend pulled me to one side at school this morning she works there and looks after the nursery class that my son is in, half of the children that were in his class moved up to reception in september including his best friend but he doesn't move up until january but he has started to play with another little boy in his class and has started to get into trouble he even got put on the wall yesterday. I know someone out there is going to say "o and your kids an angel i suppose" but my son is usually a good child he's never been put on the wall before or been in trouble and my friend even said its not my son its the other kid but my son is just going along with him. What do i do? can i really tell my 4 year old hes not allowed to play with this kid?

Since I have been reading all about vaccines and autism, I hear that single shots of MMR vaccines given at different times are a safer way. (Dr. stephanie cave). Does anyone know if these are available, where and when? My son is due to be vaccinated for his 1 year shots and I am paranoid. I have decided not to give him MMR till he is 18 months old.

So I met a mom who joined my playgroup website. We met at a local bookstore for storytime, with our kids. We had a little bit of language barrier problems but I was patient and tried to be all ears and supportive during our conversations, even though I sometimes didn't understand when she spoke and vice versa. English is her 2nd language and I think Russian and German is her first. She was also blunt and showed no expression and very rarely smiled. I tried to be friendly and smiled often so her first impression of me is positive. But my first impression of hers was not so good but I smiled anyway and tried to be positive.
When I emailed her when I got home, I included in the email "Sorry, we had a little bit of language barriers. Hopefully, this will improve in the future. :-) " I also confirmed the date of our next meeting.
Well she emails back and says "I didn't have any language barriers. I understood you perfectly. Maybe it was you who didn't understand me."
This is offensive.

My mom just recently recovered from pnemonia and a couple other things while she was in the hospital. The doctor had her on way too many medications and it made her go into a coma, she was in ICU for a month and on life support for 3 weeks. She had a lot of fluid in her lungs and a bowl infection (TIM). Anyways she finaly recovered, lost 75-80 pounds, is continuing to loose it, a lot of age spots cleared up, and her hair got a lot thicker and fuller. She looks like shes in her early 30's again (shes only 47). Well she was always depressed before she got sick and would never go on dates. She always said things like, "no man would ever want me." Now she is feeling better, looking better, and just better in general & I think she should start dating again. Im not sure but I think her confidence is down and she still feels fat (shes not anymore). So my question is, how could I get her out of the house to meet new guys. Our town is pretty small and most people find dates at bars,

Just because a person is equipped physically to make a baby, it doesn't mean that they are equipped mentally or emotionally to do it. Having money does not automatically make a person a good parent...this question is not about money or education levels... (and yes i know i posted this once before, but i wanted some more opinions on this subject)

and 11 yrs old. my girl has had a harder time this yr because she won't participate in the sexual games her classmates play.
the other kids parents don't supervise them very well, if at all.
if i say anything to the school or the parents the kids will know who told and pick on my daughter even more. she's having such a hard yr this yr. i don't want to do anything to make it worse for her.
now, my daughter is using her head and making good decisions and i'm sooooooooooooo glad that she is still open with me. i can tell when things are bothering her and i question her instead of ignoring it.
should i let the other kids carry on and hope the parents find out some other way? if they were paying more attention this probably wouldn't be happening!!!
or should i say something?? we have talked about the picking and she wants to try and deal with that part on her own for right now but said she would let me know if she needed me. but this sex thing scares me!!!
any advice????????????

It has crossed my mind for my daughter (who shows characterstics)to have autism. Any parents out there with a child with a mild case? can you email me and tell me about it. Ive been researching for some time so please do not respond with the signs of it or your opinion of what its about. I ONLY want to know personal experiences from people who live it everyday. Id rather speak privately to someone that has a child with this.

I have 3 boys, all very immature and small for their age, 14 11 and 9. My 14 and 11 year olds were watching tv, when I walk in the room and see a commercial ad for SAW IV, which showed almost scences of torture and disturbing image I would not dare let my kids see. I was extremely upset on this issue. It was about 4:30 pm when it happened

Should this be illegel?

my son is 11 and due to our faulty genetics he wakes up wet every morning. I feel that he is overly open about it... he has told most of friends he wears goodnites to bed. I feel he should try to hide it, that that is more soically healthy. What to do?

I left my partner when my daughter was a year old, he was abusive and violent - I haven't seen him since and he hasn't seen our daughter, doesn't want to. My daughter is now 5 and asks why she hasn't got a daddy, her friends ask her where her daddy is, and she's said that he must have not loved her. I want to tell her as truthfully as I can but what do I say so she'll understand - and what can I tell her to say to her friends when they ask.

My husband and I received an invitation to our daughter's (his biological, my step daughter) 9th birthday party from my husband's sister. She never even called us and asked if we were doing something or if we minded her hosting a party. His sister made arrangements to spend the day with our daughter during her bio mom's weekend as to secure the time with our daughter without us knowing. Is it appropriate and how would you reply?

I don't take my dog to children parks!

A general observation: most children only know how to behave around their own dog and not others.

For example, at child picked up a toy the dogs were playing with and put it over his head. The dogs thought he was playing keep away and jumped up to get the toy and one of the dogs knocked over the child. Mom gets mad but I say, why did you bring your kid in here anyways???

In general, combined with good parenting and teaching\guidance from the parents, do shows like "Sesame Street" and "Dora the Explorer" really help kids with early concepts? Or are they basically entertainment to young minds?
