I think it was in a closer mag last year and there was a program on about it too.
This IS NOT A PRODUCT of my twisted imagination. I'm not that sick.

Well...it's controversial but honestly if the child is unaware and the parents know that the child will not see or hear anything then it's not horrific. I personally woulnt do it especially to a 4-5 year old. About the breastfeeding part- I know in many cultures it is normal to feed at a much older age. So that is totally upto the mom.

I think breastfeeding a child of that age is not healthy, but I think you are talking about very young babies that sleep in the same bed as the parents have sex, I watched the programme too and I dont think they are talking about a lot of throwing each other about into all sorts of positions they were talking about spooning sex with the duvet over them, there is no way a baby can tell or even know what they are doing!!

Yes i think a child of 4 or 5 should have been weened long ago.And as for having sex while the child slept in the same bed?I would have to ask how old the child in the bed is.I had sex with my infant in the same bed sleeping but it wasn't something i did on a regular basis and she wasn't old enough to realize what was happening.

Having sex in bed with a 4yo child is wrong, the child could be very upset if they woke in the middle of it. Breastfeeding a 4 or 5 yo...I stopped breastfeeding a couple of months before my son was 3, but there were times I thought he would never stop. I've seen a tv programme where a mum was desperate to stop and the child who was at least 5 and in school would jump on her mum and pull her clothes off and breastfeed. In some cultures, particularly in places where there isn't always clean water to drink or enough food, it is normal to breastfeed until around 7.

Definitely weird. And possibly bordering on some form of neglect or deliquincy of the child--especially the sex while child is in the bed part.Almost makes you think that maybe the parents need counseling. It is not good for the child to be in the bed with them. And there is no medical or health reason for breastfeeding at that age. I think the mom needs a little help.

To my knowledge, and I don't know the exact chemistry of it, but I think there is a component in breast milk that rots teeth- not much fun for kids or parents, and certainly unhealthy.

The sex thing - most of me says "That's awful! The poor child!" and screams that the psychological effects will be enormous.

However, I have heard of families and cultures in which this practice is, if not common, accepted. This is their choice, and I suppose in some situations may not be detrimental to the child. Unlike the obvious health risk of the breastfeeding, exposing children to sex needn't be a negative action.

Of course, I will raise my future child/ren to understand that sex is a personal thing - not something to be ashamed of or hide, but a personal thing nonetheless. I couldn't do it, but I'm not totally against others doing it.

It is quite common in some countries to breast feed a child for years. I don't agree with it but i also accept that this is their culture, just as I accept that many countries don't feed their kids after a year old. Many children also sleep in their parents rooms albiet not in the same bed and have little brothers and sisters, which makes me think that it is more common then people think. Just an opinion as I do agree with others posting on this topic.

Horrific. Weird and horrible.
Breastfeeding is great but doesn't need to continue past 1 year of age.
As for sex in the same bed - NO way. Not in the same room either.
Having a baby or child nearby automatically switches me into "maternal mode" and there is no way I'm going to have any sexual behaviour going on, it would make me feel physically sick.

Yes I think that really strange, I really don't understand women who breast feed after 12 months and I couldn't think of any thing worst then having sex in the same room let alone bed as my 4 year old and I do think a 4 year old (if woke up) would wonder what was going on.

I co-slept with my duaghter and plan to with this baby. But me and my husband will not be having sex in the bed, with the child in it, we'll get creative lol. To me that borders on abuse esepcially if the child wakes up and see it. And yeah I think that breastfeeding should stop around 1 or 2 , when ever it is thta they recommend children stop drinking out of bottles now.
